*****Official BBQ Thread - Suns out, Buns out!*****

Hiya guys,

I've been looking more and more into replacing my cheap BBQ with a Weber Original Kettle 57cm, and with BBQ world having a current offer on of getting a free chimney starter kit with your order now seems a better time than ever.

Quick question, what's the difference between the original and the original premium? As far as I can see the only difference is the removable ash basket. If that is the case, is it worth the £50 ish price difference between the two?

Thanks :)

Yes, the ash catcher basket is a good feature IMO. I wouldn't trust the dish not to redirect hot coals onto my toes if they fell through the grate, and you then need to clean it out after the coals have died. The ash catcher just disconnects so you can easily transport the ash to your bin/compost heap.

The ash basket is well worth it, I’d go full fat and the master touch with the charcoal baskets and lid hanger thingie!

Hello, A few things from the previous posts.
We used a generic pizza stone and stuck on the rack/grill to do our pizza`s and didn't use the actuall accessory and it was glorious as Mr @seabiscuit says.

Last night we cheated in our epic quest we had sausages and burgers but nicer ones and they were lovely.

Tonight we did whole sea bream stiuffed with rosemary and lemon it was tasty beyond belief. Als threw on some chicken wings for a late night snack.

Tomorrow we havernt yet decided but at the weekend we want to do some low n slow cooks.
haven't:D

The ash catcher is worth it, it makes clean up so easy!

That sounds great. Fish is one thing I've never done on a BBQ.. I really should though!

I would like to add an ash catcher is worth ever penny. I can photo ours so you see it if you would like :)

Thank you very much for the replies everyone, seems like the premium is the better choice so will go for that.

Now to start planning and investigating everything else I need. Thanks again.

Just smoking an overnight brisket here hopefully ready for the football tomorrow, I've strangely hit the dreaded stall at 135 farenheit. This is a much lower temperature than I have previously experienced. It normally happens closer to 160. I hope everything is ok!

I made the following for a pulled pork I did in the slow cooker a while ago, it turned out really nice if you haven't already tried this one:

https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2016/09/easy-basic-barbecue-rub-sauce-all-purpose-recipe.html

Will give it a go :)

Edit: Just made it (adding a shot of espresso) and its tastes great! Will be even better after a day in the fridge to mature. It’s not child safe though :hot:

I also made this coriander sauce which is fantastic too:
2 cup fresh coriander
4 medium cloves garlic
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
4 teaspoons fresh juice from 1 lime
2 teaspoon distilled white vinegar

Everything into a food processor until smooth and then dribble in olive oil to taste. You can add jalapeños if you wish

Anyone bought from Riverside or BBQWorld? Both have similar prices on Webers but wanted to know how good/bad their customer service is should there be any problems down the line.

I've bought covers, fuel, accessories and a BBQ from BBQ World and always been spot on. Had no need to contact them further so can't comment on after sales matters though!

Bought from both, but never had a problem with either. I think I got my Master Touch and WSM from Riverside though. As far as I know, Riverside have the biggest Weber selection in the UK!

I did a fantastic brisket and short ribs on the WSM today as I had my parents up visiting. I also bought some of the BSR burgers from T&G which are worth checking out.
