We're now less than a month until shipping so I thought I'd make a thread on this due to being absoloutely, ridiculously excited for this release having played through the first 4 times, yes 4 times I deem it my favourite game of all time (it really doesn't seem long since I made the last thread for the original BioShock!). The atmosphere, the music, the setting. Fantastic.

Here are a few links to previews and a few trailers to wet your appetite. Not long now.

Anyone going for the uber special edition at £69.99?, I must be insane to pay this much for a special edition but I can let that pass since I don't expect it to let me down in anyway.

I've made a point at not reading any previews etc I want to be as unspoiled as possible

What are you all thinking, what are you looking forward to?

The prepare to be horribly, horribly disappointed :p

Nah, only kidding. I hope it's going to be brilliant but daren't get my hopes up in case it turns out to be a regurgitated Bioshock 1 minus all the good bits.

I know what you mean but I really don't think that could ever happen with the BioShock series, the care and precision that went into the first from 2K Games seems to still be present as ever here.

was hoping theyd do a special edition with a big sister figure. i'll just get the standard version as over £40 extra for a cd, lp, 3 posters and book doesnt sound worth it too me.

Really looking forward to the game mind :)

It probably isn't but there is something dragging me towards it, damn you all!

Think I might play through it all tonight and try and complete it for once (Bioshock 1 I mean :p)
How long do you think it'd take to complete?

Mixing tonics seems like a good idea but I'm not holding my breath with this. The original was a great game and if it was as good as it was claimed then it's going to be a tough act to follow and anticipations may be too high for this one.

It's not an overly long game but i can't remember roughly how long it took me to complete, you can definitely take a huge chunk out of it if you play 'all tonight', however long that may be :p

I don't preorder games but i can see this not dropping in price for a long time, it's sorely tempting i was very surprised at how good bioshock 1 was. Dual wielding plasmids sounds awesome.

The only thing I want to know is if there's any penalty for dying this time around. It kind of ruined an otherwise amazing game for me that you could just run in, die, spawn, run in etc without any penalty whatsoever, it took away all the tension.

Edit - it would also be nice if I couldn't kill everything with the wrench this time :p

The first game was great, but the RPG elements felt pretty watered down to be honest. Anyone know what kind of changes they've made in this area? Better/worse?
I think I'll still pick this up. Despite being a pale imitation of the great SS2, I still really enjoyed the first game for its graphics/atmosphere.
I remember reading somewhere that the RPG system in the early stages of Bioshock's development were much deeper and more complex but these aspects were gradually phased out in favour of mass-market appeal.

I enjoyed the first a lot, but can't bring myself to play it again. I don't know why. I'll be buying this though for sure.

Been playing through system shock 2 again, the variety in that game is insane. So many different ways to do things and can easily play it over and over again.

Really hope Bioshock 2 gets closer to that as I felt Bioshock 1 was a little shallow in places and I never had the urge to play through it a 2nd time.

i MIGHT be getting the bioshock 2 spec. really really enjoyed bioshock so the second shouldnt be a disapointment. hoping for good online multiplayer!
