****Official Bulldozer Overclocking Thread****

true but is the op talking about the cores temp or the other one, either way the cooler the better
well i hope his talking about the cpu temp (tmpin0 or tmpin1 ) as if his talking about the cores temp then it'll be more like 82-88c really. because the core temp sensor isn't right.

Well there is good news, I have lowered the voltage a little bit still running fine @4.5Ghz I also applied some AS5 thermal paste (did that less than 30mins ago). The idle temps have dropped from 42c to 35 - 38c, i understand AS5 has a 200 hour "setting" time? will this drop the temps even more.

I also ran P95 for 15mins and the temps got to a highest of 72c previous was 78c, for temp readings I've been using HWMonitor (There are two sets of temps for the CPU one for the cores and another for the CPU, which one should i be looking at?) I have been reading the CPU temps, the cores temps are always 11c - 14c lower.

So the thermal paste gave me a 4c - 8c temp drop :)

Edit: For the idle temps I always have all fans set to silent and in P95 they are set to 100%

It must be a faulty chip then? or I'm reading the wrong set of temps. The core temps get to an absolute max of 61c in p95 and idle core temps are 20c

its not a faulty chip, if it was faulty it would be doing BSOD.

the cpu temp (tmpin0 or tmpin1 ) u should be monitoring. if u was monitoring the cores temp and says 61c then it'll be more like 73-78c really. because the core temp sensor isn't right.

there chips give out a lot of heat when OC'ed ether back off the OC or get a better cooler.

Most probably the cooler then although I've read the v6gt is one of the best air coolers. Will it actually damage the cpu having 45-49c while playing games? (bf3 and metro 2033 on max) and 35-39c browsing and stuff
