*** Official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Thread ***

i can never understand when people keep saying auto aim on cod4,i mean I've played since it was released on 360 and I've only really noticed any sort of auto aim when you play normal tdm or a normal mode, and i found it didn't really help, just moves the screen slightly if someone runs in front of you to track them, but it can be more of a nuisance if your aiming at a guy and another runs across you.

i might have to buy Modern Warfare 2 , did not realy like the first one , loved Call Of Duty: World At War , played it to death :)

umm i may get it but looking at the first vid there seems to be some huge auto aiming going on.

There was a huge amount of auto aim in CoD4/WaW as well, it's why the recent console versions have been so successful. It's not a bad thing to have on console FPS games.

It has a fair bit of auto aim but when you put that along with how the game has practically no recoil at all it makes it feel more like a spray and pray game.

There is only auto aim in the single player campaign. There is no auto aim on the MP. There is a small amount of aiming assist in MP that starts to track a bit of the opposition movement but I find it more of a hinderance than help. The only time I've found it useful is when it tracks movement through smoke.

I wish they would comnpletely remove that because it's not needed at all in MP.

What auto aiming, I didnt see anything, the guys just really good, maybe some of your are just crap:cool::confused::D

Uhm, the game even makes a point of having auto aim. The tutorial explictly states during the target shooting range at the start of the game that your iron sights will flick towards the nearest enemy. It's actually akin to a very moderate CS-style aimbot - obviously not as extravagant but you only have to aim in the general direction of the person you're shooting at, and the game takes care of the rest for you.

It's necessary for the console versions but a bit too liberal for my tastes.

Yeah true enough but in that first video they are discussing it's a multiplayer map/game and that doesn't have auto aim that flicks to the nearest enemy.

Anyone that thinks MP has auto aim is wrong.

Not in multiplayer, which is what these videos are of.

The auto-aim in singleplayer allows you to engage/disengage the sights quickly to snap on a target.

In multiplayer it helps you in the general direction, but it won't "snap" like in SP.

Hmmm PS3 or 360. Decisions decisions.

Boils down to what your friends will be playing I guess as there will be no difference between the systems. The 360 will have more people online, more people talking (not always a good thing haha) and has a pad better suited for FPS games :)

Of course you don't need to pay for a Gold sub on the PS3 so online play is free.

It doesn't have the "snap to head" aiming system that's in single player but it has these auto aiming properties in multiplayer:

- Auto tracking: Where the crosshair will move for you to follow an opponent to some extent (this is why your aim can get "pulled away" when another opponent runs between the one you're aiming at and you). This can be tested in 2 player on one console. I can make a character rotate by almost 90 degrees without touching that players controller by strafing slowly in front of them and letting the auto aim do its thing.

- Context aware aiming speed: As you get your crosshair closer to an opponent the aiming movement speed slows down to assist in aiming.

- Bullet magnetism: Especially noticeable with snipers or the ACOG scope, this is where bullets can hit even if the crosshair is not on the opponent.

CoD definitely has a lot of auto aiming features in multiplayer, but it's needed when using a console pad to play an FPS game and it's a large part of why CoD multiplayer is so successful :)

Probably about the same on both consoles TBH.

Although I do have MW & WAW on the 360 so in the interests of continuity might just go with the 360, just means I need to get another gold sub. :(

I never got why they limited the original COD:MW to 16 players online.

The PC version made it feel like a ghost town.

I prefer the smaller numbers, although it means my random grenades and lmg spray through walls in hardcore mode get me less noob kills :(
