So,

Just read news about MW3. I am myself a big call of duty player (mainly cod4 at lans) But cod2 and now and again black ops but not so much mainly down to the non-pc friendly features ever since MW2. The franchise has had some shake ups due to "A legal dispute between the game's publisher, Activision, and the former co-executives of Infinity Ward - an action that damaged and internally weakened the quality of the company"

However. I am EXCITED at this one fact alone. Ravensoft are developing the Multiplayer.

If you do not know Ravensoft they created such fantastic multiplayer games in past such as SOF II which I started a thread about not so long ago. I do believe they could do a fantastic job on the multiplayer if they were to bring some features into the series. If you have never played Sof II for when it was released it was fantastic game which used the Quake 3 engine modified with Ghoul dismemberment engine.

Thoughts from you guys? Keep it clean without slating or simple trolling. Interested to hear your thoughts. I have heard many rumours about this game that it would be "pay to play" and such other attributes but it will be clearer in time. The franchise is dragging out and very similar we all know this so its on suprise this will be very similar. Its an interesting mix but if I have to be honest never heard of sledgehammer games.

Pay to play? Thats really still rumoured?

I can see it now... monthly (or weekly) subscriptions to MP an extra £10, perhaps with micro-transactions on top. Can't decide whether it would be hilarious to see CoD fanboi's jump in head first to pay for it or sad to see the way gaming is going...

Ravensoft COULD do wonders I agree entirely, but they wont be given the chance.

Given the chance? but they are making it :)

Looking forward to it. Hope they make the MP less spamming. I'd like a modern online fps that doesn't have any grenades. Why do we even need them anyway?

Tac nades are pretty handy ;) but just epic nade spam isn't. Just watch for the choke points where the mass nades land :D

cod is like a tin of baked beans now .

no real depth just good for a quick snack .

they cant really go back to the old ways of cod which is what everyone whos old skool wants cause it just doesnt work well on console which provide the vast mega amounts of money.

so you are left with what we have today.

cod 1/uo were best and what made the game .
cod 2 launched the console part of it
cod 4 while multi -platform had everything which was fresh and good and i dont think you ll actually see a multiplayer fps as good as this for five years yet.
waw was a decent effort and if you play that on highest settings it is actually probably the best graphically.
mw2 - the end of pc and the pure start of console itus .
black ops - for me personally ran pretty much floorless from start. not greatest fps but not worst ive played. passable.

mw3 - i predict it will more than likely be the same ol same old. sod all the console this or that arguments they do dominate pc ten to one what do you expect. i hope it is good as cod 4 but cant see it myself. im going to buy it because games i actually play on the pc i enjoy are shrinking .

like this year theres 4 games ill buy on pc :(

red orchestra 2 which could be best fps released this year if they pull there fingers out.
dirt 3 looks awesome cant wait for this
bfbc3 :p you know its this deep down but itll look pretty :D
mw3 just for a break from bf to entertain.

I predict if Ravensoft haven't forgotten how to make multiplayer games and they could make this one the best yet for pc.

Only played Cod 4 for PC heard the others where not the best of games on PC. Looking forward to it but if they use the pay to play scheme I am out.

Also isn't it BF3 that comes out this year? :p

tac nades can be good if you are out numbered but in most cases, they are just spammed all over the map. It ruins games like MW IMO. Brink tries to fix this problem but ends up making nades in mp games even more annoying. :p

What makes you think they'll be able to do things how they want and not have to copy/paste the previous game, make up some MP maps from the SP and release without testing?

The game is almost certainly going to run like crap just like Black Ops did (does), its going to be akin to Medal of Honour if different devs are doing the SP and MP.

Well its almost a "dream" not reality. It could possibly (most likely) be a duplicate however there is no problem to hope it isn't. That's why I think that.

They might be making it, but they'll be under strict instructions not to deviate from the (IMO) tired and dull formula, or it'll scare off the sheep that buy it annually.

Dunno why raven having anything to do with this should be considered good, theyve not made anything good in years. The last game they released was that abortion of a Wolfenstein game in 2009, before that their most recent claim to fame was the decidedly "meh" quake 4. Raven (much like iD) seem to be recognised more for past glories rather than anything current.

could be good and no doubt ill get excited about as i poured years off my life into mw1 but nothing will come close to that game as it was just so diffrent from everything else .... and that wont happen again in the cod series as its too popular as it is

cod is like a meat take chicken for example ....

and everyone like there own flavour...

It will be the hype surrounding the COD franchise that will sell this game. Seems they will be using the same engine so it looks like we won't be seeing anything ground breaking, a shame really as people spend hundreds upgrading their system and this may not even take advantage of that. As for 'Pay to play' not a chance. Thats just greedy.

Vanilla COD was the first proper multiplayer I played and it is still great. MW was a big step forward for the series and both single player and multi player I really enjoyed. MW2 is when I gave up on COD. They sold out to the console market plain and simple.

If MW3 is developed separately for the PC (lol), has a console, lean and dedicated servers then I may consider it. If I wasn't a PC gamer then perhaps I'd love COD. Not the case though...

Let's say for arguments sake that the MP gameplay/perks/looks/feel etc etc is the best COD to date, it will be wasted if the devs learn nothing from the poor P2P MW2 effort with no VAC support to speak of or the laggy monopoly with no released server files that is GameServers. Activision will redeem themselves if ... and it's probably a doubtful if, they release the server files to multiple GSPs and allow Even Balance to develop the anti-cheat mechanism.
