**Official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Thread**

I'm a fan of MW2 but never bothered to get a copy of Black Ops but I am excited to hear that Ravensoft are in on the job, I actually thought the company was no long in business.

Good to hear they are still alive and kicking, I loved SOF2 back in the day.

If they left the console kiddies to their ranking up and shiny prestige badges etc and then give the PC community just the game that is behind it all without all the BS ranking and perks the COD community could live in peace and the world would be a happy place again :)

but until that happens I won't be touching another COD game on the PC.

Dunno why raven having anything to do with this should be considered good, theyve not made anything good in years. The last game they released was that abortion of a Wolfenstein game in 2009, before that their most recent claim to fame was the decidedly "meh" quake 4. Raven (much like iD) seem to be recognised more for past glories rather than anything current.

Not true, Singularity (2010) is the best game nobody's played. Multiplayer was great too, totally different to any other multiplayer I've played, especially when you played as the creatures. But Activision didn't promote it at all, no marketing or anything, it was really weird, almost as if they wanted it to fail. Or the Russian government don't want anyone to know what really went on on Katorga-12...

I quite like COD games apart from the horrific immersion-destroying consolitis. Even in Single player, do they really have to treat you like a three-year old? Cliffhanger, you're climbing up a snowcapped mountain, it looks good, you can hear the cracking of the ice, just you and Soap, new gun, heartbeat sensor, cool, and just as you start to feel like you're there a massive "FOLLOW" sign appears over Soap's head, ruining the scene and instantly shattering all immersion.

Would console gamers really not be able to figure out what to do by themselves? Would they be stranded forever up the mountain because it would never occur to them that they had to follow the only other animate object on screen without MASSIVE TEXT INSTRUCTIONS?

At a minimum there should be an option to turn off the humiliating hints, like a hardcore mode or whatever. Surely it's not difficult to implement, you'd just have to care about how your game would look on PC.

How did you keep a straight face while typing that?

...oh wait... you were serious weren't you? Wake up and smell the cash cow. Activision won't do anything to CoD that isn't in the interest of profit and spending money on development that could be spent on marketing isn't in that interest.

And for those still desperate to believe CoD 87 will be anything but a rehash of the previous ones.

If an online CoD FPS came out with huge depth and great quality it would make bazillions. Think an FPS version of WoW. It would take a lot of creativity, but if it was done correctly it would be worth a subscription fee. WoW proves that doing something right (or stealing the competitions' best ideas!) equals champagne and dancing girls, and like I said, for the end user it would probably work out at a similar expenditure to buying the game and DLCs each year.

Why would they add depth and turn it into some sort of MMOFPS? If they do anything, it will be exactly like it is now, only charging extra to play online on servers they don't even host or maintain (which would also have to be paid for, no doubt in another exclusive deal to maximise profit).

People will still convince themselves its worth buying because most people are morons.

If they didn't add more depth it would be ****, agreed. I wonder how many pre-orders there were for MW2 and BO and how those numbers will compare to MW3's.

I really, really hope gamers don't blindly pre-order this...

Raven have made some excellent games in their time, Quake 4 Multi was excellent imo, even though it was targeted by the whiners for not being Quake 3, Wolfenstein wasn't particularly brilliant but still enjoyable and Singularity was very good, it'll be nice to see what they can do with COD.

Lol, of course they will. This forum alone is a pretty good indication that blind optimism is strong amongst CoD fans. Plenty of them expecting it to be the light shining in the darkness after MW2 and BO or expecting gameplay changes that won't happen.

It'll be a re-hash of the previous MP game containing minor changes with a tacked on SP most likely full of ridiculous cliche's and american bravado all for £40. No doubt the special editions are going to be spectacular value and contain something ridiculous like cheap plastic NV goggles for an extra £60.

Oh sorry, I forgot you were from the future. I do also THINK that it will be a poor game though. You can't definitely say it will be.

Right on.

What I hate most from the new trailer is that the game is actually showing off more of those awful on-rails sections (minigun, boat) as if they were something to be proud of! On-rails sections = NO REPLAYABILITY!!
