**OFFICIAL** Carling Cup Final Thread - Aston Villa Vs. Man Utd - 28/2/10 - Wembley

If he was back in the picture he shouldn't have been. Doesn't play nearly enough to warrant a place.

As it was put to me before, you need a goal in the dying seconds of a game, who do you want in the box:

  • Carlton Cole
  • Emile Heskey
  • Theo Walcott
  • Peter Crouch
  • Michael Owen

You could argue Defoe, but consider Rooney an automatic starter if not injured, Owen is your goal getter.

Defoe or Agbonlahor.

Nothing wrong with the challenge on Berbatov there. He was caught, but it wasn't a free kick. The ball was won cleanly.

Probably because of how early it happened in the game, I reckon had it been 20+ minutes into the game, he'd have been off.
But hes happy to give a card minutes later?

Got to say though Owen was playing well before he had to go off - Milners commanding our midfield

We just arent as good when we dont play at pace - why on earth Heskey is still part of such a team amazes me...

Yes, yellow cards. Massive difference there. A red card in the 4th minute would have ruined the final, then minutes later he could have sent off that Villa defender for bringing Owen down.
He didnt give a card to Vidic - thats my whole point outside if its a red or not - its still a card any day of the week at any time in a match...

So why not give a yellow for Vidic?

Not that that would be correct either. It was a stonewall red. No doubt about it.
