**OFFICIAL** Carling Cup Final Thread - Aston Villa Vs. Man Utd - 28/2/10 - Wembley

Just seen the Vidic incident and I wouldn't say it's a clear cut red. Agbonlahor wasn't running direct at goal so I suppose you could argue it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity, most people would say it was though.

We all know referees don't sing from the same hymn sheet, if anything this season has shown them all to be more inconsistent than they've ever been. A different referee would have probably sent him off and I would have had no complaints about it. It's just I can see why he didn't. It did warrant at least a yellow though.

I'm pretty sure Agbonlahor would have got a shot away. However, red or not he should be in the book. It's pretty disgusting to not even book him.

He was.

He had knocked the ball past Vidic and would have been straight on goal.

I agree he'd have got a shot away but that doesn't mean it's a clear goalscoring opportunity though. Because he was running slightly away from goal it gave the ref an excuse not to send him off. More often than not he'd have gone for that though.

Hopefully this possible new rule being brought in from next season onwards, about no red cards unless it's violent conduct should clear up a lot of confusion amongst the refs when they've awarded a penalty.

Man Utd are quite wide outsiders according to the betting websites, don't know why.

Been a fantastic game so far, hope there's more goals!

Just hope thats the last final Dowd presides over...

Glad Rooneys on the pitch already - dont really want him to be on nearer the end as a Super Sub as he would have owned our slow defenders...

Roll on 2H :D

ps3ud0

It's such a shame Heskey can't play like he used to for Leicester.

Great save from Friedel.

Vidic can't get near Agbonlahor.

Young didn't get it because he tried hard to stay on his feet and it probably didn't look too bad to this (CLUELESS) ref :p
