Looking forward to this, the molotov will be a nice addition to the game. This will put a stop to those annoying campers hiding behind doors and boxes.

The console gamers wont be allowed to create custom games but PC gamers will.:D

Do we have a date for the closed beta? I managed to get my hands on a key but no info on when we can expect it yet.

There was an EU vs USA match over the weekend with some of the 1.6 stars but not seen much of the VOD yet. Really looking forward to it :)

Got a spare one? :D

The have been given away at events like Eurogamer and this weekends Intel Masters in New York, but I bought mine off someone who went to PAX.

The weapon models and hands look bizzare, the whole game looks floaty.

At the ESL event this weekend they said it was still only in Alpha really and that the so called "closed beta" wouldn't actually be true beta quality. They want to get key players involved now in an attempt to remove the obvious defects and hopefully reduce the whining...

doubt that will happen though as it is source after all!

They've said that right from the first rumours of this game turning up, when Valve invited a substantial list of "pro" players to meetings at their offices in the States. Unfortunately, the majority of them were source players, so a lot of the 1.6 scene holds little hope for this when it does come out.

Personally I don't see the appeal of it. I loved 1.6, and I loved the (now old) source; but this seems that they just want a piece of the console pie and are trying to mimmick CoD in so many different ways...

they've said officially that they want to tie the two together, so hopefully they'll take the best of each and run with that.

I think it's fair to say that it's not going to be a masterpiece visually, but i don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. BF3 has highlighted one of the main problems with PC gaming and that's the necessity to upgrade, hopefully CS:GO will fall under that curve (which, given they have unfettered access to Steam's system specs database, shouldn't be hard) and allow an excellent, competitive PC game to be widespread again.

I'm hoping the addition of the consoles won't drag it down too far, from the looks of things there are efforts being made to ensure that there is a level of pro-ness to be selected which will cut the wheat from the chaff.

Sadly not, I bought mine for £30! I know i know... but I can't wait :D

Seen them go for a lot more than that £39+!

Did you get it from the well know auction site?

I tried selling a CS GO T-Shirt and Beta Key there but they kept shutting auction down.

I went to the eurogamer show to pick up mine.

No, I just started a thread on cadred.org and found someone willing to send the key at 50% payment and paid the rest afterwards, i've seen them go for stupid amounts too but £30 was all I felt it was worth even tho it will prob be a short closed beta.

I don't know, this game just seems too stuck in the past for me. It doesn't offer any additions to CSS and looks even worse. The UI is horrible, the graphics are horrible, the animation is stiff and horrible. It looks like a PS2 game with a PS1 hud. I have no idea what Valve were thinking.

My Son who is a Pro CSS player would disagree but I really do think by now Counterstrike should at least look as good as COD but keep it's traditional gameplay and maybe add some new objectives etc.

There are no pro players in the Source scene, there has never been enough money to sustain it. What is your son's alias and team?
