Yep when you load the profile for apache or any other helicopter in DCS you can place the stick in any position and will stay your not fighting the stick makes things a walk in the park for helicopters when you load say a f18 profile which is my main bird the stick feels much different stiffer and you can feel turns climbs e.t.c war birds are mad good also.

Def don't want any curves for heli's, it's harder initially to get used to but will pay off down the road with MUCH better control.

I use a longer extension but also my FFB base is a lot stronger so I'm not losing anything.

If you don't have force feedback go for a 100mm extension, yes a shorter one will work but the longer the better.

Damn! Nice setup. I've already went down this dark path.

This is where I've noticed the Warthog stick falls apart. Centre spring pull. Too stiff, too sensitive. This is why I have to play with curves.

Flight is stable but something about it feels off. I'm always changing settings. That and it's on the desk doesn't help. Arm up higher.

I need to make a rig. The car bucket seat is in the loft.

Apache is the module I'm sticking with. I can hover but sometimes it feels like I'm always having to do inconsistent work as the spring keeps pulling.

I'm fighting a spring not a heli.

Cool. Whats the seat?
If you’re looking at building a new frame, do look at an aluminium setup.
Above all, I’ve found it to be incredibly flexible (no, not in a bendy way).
If you want to change the position, add a panel, replace the seat, just unbolt what you have and play around until it fits.

It's the Next Level Racing flight sim pro setup, seats not that great if I'm honest, had to buy a moulded back support as my dodgy back hated it, all good now.
Won't be building another setup, you get so many spares with it it fits everything I need.

Few tweaks of my own like the quick swap from collective to throttle, got to love magnets ;) and spring suspension to not pee off the neighbours, this also had the added benifit of making the butt kicker MUCH more effective and also gives the whole pit a floaty feeling which with the FFB stick and pedals gives the whole thing a bit of movement.

The Warthog is absolutely awful in that respect. Despite what I said previously about 'normal' joysticks not being suited to helicopters, something like a decent Virpil base would be a massive improvement even without FFB. Bit spendy but at least you can use the Warthog stick, which actually is good.

Not sure if any of you guys watch the Growling Sidewinder videos or not, but hes got a 40% discount code for the Hornet if you fancy it..

Saw the sad news on today's newsletter that Matt Wagner had passed away. Haven't flown DCS in a long while but next time I need to brush up on my Hornet skills watching his videos will be very bittersweet.

RIP Wags

This is very sad. I saw that there was a special event held the other week in relation to his illness, had no idea he was that unwell though.

His tutorials are second to none. I too haven't flown DCS for quite a while but I will certainly seek out his videos when I get the time to get back into it.

RIP Wags.

Yeah they were all doing it on twitch. I now remember the name watching his Apache videos.

I never knew he was an Eagle Dynamics employee. Senior producer.

Wag’s will be sorely missed.
I’ve no idea how many instruction videos, previews, interviews, updates I’ll have watched or read by him.

Apparently he joined SIG back in 1995, so 30 years+.

What an utter superstar.

RIP Wags
