*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Unfortunately the last time I tried to run it the game ran like poo, so bit reluctant to give it another go unless things have improved performance wise.

It doesn't affect performance at all for me.... Anyway, you could just set it to only remove the tint and not use any of the other effects such as smaa if you like.

PS, I wish they had fixed the ridiculous safe-fall height...my Super-enhanced Jensen just died falling about 3 metres and landing on his feet:rolleyes:

Energy bars.

Missus has bought me this for Xmas (she's a star) knowing I loved the original, so it's gone away for now.

thanks

Have a question about a boss room , spoiler alert so added to spoilers

What's the point of that room above Eliza? I mean, there's a computer up there surrounded by inactive turrets and gas canisters, getting to it does nothing?

did you upgrade the Icarus landing system?

I've been dropping from heights of over 6metres and its fine

Yep, with the Icarus it is fine, but without it, the safe height is ridiculous. There are a few places in Hengsha where I try to drop down from about 5-6 metres, and jensen actually dies from the fall!!

Wow!, what a game, I've had it kicking around in my Steam library for for ages, its not without its flaws, but it has a fantastic sound track and a great story, sweetfx improves the visuals no end, I think this will go down as one of my favorite games of all time, now to start a DC replay ;).

Anyone purchasing Deus Ex: The Fall?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/258180/

It comes out tomorrow. Available to pre-load now on steam.

It was originally only available on tablet/mobile devices, but they've now upgraded it to work on the PC. It is a prequel to Human Revolution.

I am not expecting much, but might be worth a blast.

hmm interesting

I don't think im going to bother with this one

Hmm, a bit disappointed with this so far.

You can clearly tell it was made for mobile/tablet devices. The whole thing is so oversimplified and somewhat buggy.

Still, I think it's great to see another insight into the main Deus Ex story. I just really wish they'd polished it a bit more to be like Human Revolution, and added more filler, as this could have been even better.

Usually I don't like to bad mouth a developer that has put an effort in to revive a franchise, but I really hope Eidos are not trying to cash in on the Deus Ex name, because so far the Director's Cut and now this have been a bit disappointing. The Director's Cut was supposed to be a more polished version of Human Revolution (which I thought was great by the way), but they actually made it worse, and managed to do it on all platforms.

Watching the TB video atm. Some of the textures look very poor.

Edit : conclusion thus far - appears to be remarkably bad.

Krap guns, not enough Ammo, awkward clonky menu, no i dont i'll bother with the next game either.

what we want is a similar game, but with the gaming mechanics from a normal shooter.... i.e nice and easy

It's horrendously bad. I saw it appear on Steam and was like "Awesome, a new DX game! How did I never hear about this?" I thought it was going to be an ad-on to the main game like Missing Link - a full featured side story in the main game's graphics engine. So, like a chump, I bought it straight away. The Deus Ex name short-circuited the logic centre in my brain which normally tells me to check reviews before buying any games.

But yeah, it's horrible. The controls are clunky, the graphics are dismal (seriously, there are some textures and object models that wouldn't have looked out of place in the original Deus Ex), the voice acting is amateur at best. There are invisible walls, game-breaking bugs, tiny levels with an abundance of loading screens. Oh, and you don't even get a jump button.

Seriously cross for allowing myself to be conned out of 8 quid like that.

It's worse than Invisible War!

It is a tablet game, not sure what you were expecting? It is terrible on the iPad, so I can only imagine how disappointing it is on the PC! It is a shame that Steam is letting all this trash on there.

Exactly. It is a tablet game, made exclusively for tablets. It was actually OK so far as tablets go, but barely worth mentioning on anything else.
