*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

It is a tablet game, not sure what you were expecting? It is terrible on the iPad, so I can only imagine how disappointing it is on the PC! It is a shame that Steam is letting all this trash on there.

No, it's not a tablet game, it's a PC game. Because I bought the PC version.

I don't expect the port to be overwhelmingly awesome, but I do expect it to be adequate.

Just started playing this first impressions are its a simplified HR and I think if you enjoyed HR you would enjoy this, if you enjoy the Deus Ex story I am sure it will be some fun.
I never expected it to be as good as HR as it primarily was designed for tablets and only brought on the PC because people went crazy that they were not going to release for pc so you cant expect it to be of similar quality as I assume the decision to not release on pc was because they new it would not be up to the quality of HR.
I was just happy they ended up releasing it for pc even if its not as good as HR.

I don't find the controls a problem as its pretty much the same as HR would have liked them to have a FOV option but it may come in a patch hopefully.

The games story seems to follow what happened after in the book Icarus Effect from what I have played so far but as the first mission is a flashback to Saxon's first mission with the Tyrants.

Going to play some more later on today.

I've had this on my PC screen all night. I'd not heard anything about the release, and to say it was a Dues Ex game that didn't seem right. So I was about to click on buy when just buy chance I logged on in here to see if anyone else had got it, and what they thought.

Thanks guys! :)

gave this another whirl last night after a clan mate said he was playing it. forgot i had yet tom complete it.....and still do....ha!

was so hyped to get back into it but my lord!!!! the controls are dog **** :pI dunno what I had set up before but it couldn't have been what I used last night.....holy jeebus!!!

I also died a LOT from falling off things...mostly buildings....but... I have the aug so I can jump like 9ft up.... but yet I can't seem to fall from a similar height without joining the data center in the sky :p then there's the aiming.... which apparently really is hit or miss :p apparently having the laser sight on something means it can hit exactly there... or maybe a foot or so off the the side....what ever xD trying to quickly take out small groups with a silenced pistol became such a pain as the laser would be on the face the the bullet would be elsewhere....if they were running targets then fair enough might have to put a lead on.... but they were almost stationary :p

don't think i'll ever complete this game xD or not in one go any time soon.... maybe after about 50 tiny stints just getting one mission done a time maybe....

Back to Deus Ex HR on the PC...

I'm currently trying for 100% non-lethal on a playthrough so...

How does that apply on the side mission you do in Hengsha for the brothel, where you have to stun the guy and throw him off the roof to look like an accident? Does that count as a kill or not?

Also what about toward the end on Panchea where you have to take on hordes of demented augs (effectively zombies) to get through to the final level?

That side mission, you can just plant drugs in his apartment after you knock him out. If you kill him, it's a kill and you don't get the pacifist achievement.

In Panchea, again, you can't kill the splicers demented augs if you want the pacifist achievement. You'll have to make liberal use of your cloaking systems to sneak past without alerting them. It can be done, I have done it. I got the pacifist achievement and "the foxiest of hounds" for never being detected in the same playthrough.

Also note, the prelude section at the beginning, before you get your augs... that also counts. If you killed anyone there, or got detected at any point, it will have ruined your chances at getting those achievements.

So far, so good.

The only problem with non-lethal play through is that it's actually quite boring. In stealthing around everywhere and everyone you miss quite a few pick-ups, including the energy bars you actually need to fuel your powers! 14 secs (two bars) of invisibility sounds a lot, but isn't when you take a wrong turn and decloak in front of a Heavy Rifleman with nowhere to hide and no energy for a takedown!

I found my stealth playthrough far more interesting than my guns-blazing playthrough. It forced me to look for alternate routes, plan my approaches, and really think about what I was doing.

I second this. I loved playing it through stealthily and much preferred it to a run-and-gun style approach. I found that I was actually thinking things through and planning my approach. It definitely made it feel more interesting. My original playthrough was done on the XBox a few years ago. I purchased Deux Ex HR in the Steam Sale last year and played it for a bit but still haven't completed it. It is, however one of those games that I will finish again because I thought it was such an amazing game. The story is fantastic and the gameplay just worked for me. I think I might have a go again tonight :)

With regard to stealthy I'm assuming the bit at the end of "Missing Link"

where you have to decide between saving the one (Doctor) or many (test subjects)

does not affect your non-lethal rating?

Replaying this at the weekend and just want to say that this is one of the best games I have ever played. In Tai Yong Medical now, loving it. Surely the best stealth play I have ever seen. Going for a non-lethal playthrough, tremendous fun.

One of my all time favorites also. I am impatient on news about a new deus ex. Considering it is the same team and they did not have to start from scratch I thought there would be a new game out, if not announced by now.

I am happy to wait as long as it is as good as or better than Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I assume it is being developed mainly for the new consoles which is good, that way the PC version will be better.
