**Official Dfi UT nf4 Sli-DR EXPERT Thread **

This thread appears to be very quiet. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

I'd like to hear how people are getting on with DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard. Heard of a few problems on the DFi-Street forums.

I'd especially like to hear from people who have had to RMA their board. Was it easy? Did DFi respond quickly? Was the turn around quick? Was sending it to the Netherlands a nightmare?

I'd really like to find out more before I part with my hard earned cash.

Thank you

Ian.

2 of my memory slots seem to of broke but useing other 2 but it great apart from that. Dfi rma is quite good it take about a week you send it some where in uk first think it bournmoth then they send it to netherlands.

I bought one of these off the MM in January, it worked for a few days then when I tried a bios flash it died.

I bought another and only got round to RMAing the faulty one 2 weeks ago, service was very quick (but of a bummer having to post it to the netherlands) came back within 10 days.

Just in time for the 2nd one to break, nothing to do with me this time, it just got less and less stable (everything at stock) and then I came back to it yesterday afternoon after a spot of gardening to pc on, no display. Switched it off and it never came back on again. Swapped mobo out (for the one just back from rma) and all working again.

Needless to say I'm moving away from this board now.

Anyone know if the new 7950GX2's will work with this board without a BIOS flash? There seems to be an update for the Infinity to enable it but nothing on the expert.

Is there a known compatibility issue with this mobo and nec drives?

I have a pioneer witer and a nec dvd rom, as soon as i connect the nec drive windows ends up freezing after a little time of working ok. Ive tried using just the nec drive in both ide 1 and ide 2. I have also tried using the pioneer in ide1 and ide2 as well. The problem occours as soon as the nec is connected.

It cant be the actual drive as it worked with my last mobo fine. Shall i rma the mobo?

i have just fitted 7950 to expert and it runs fine , i havent flashed bios from new yet

I've managed to get mine up and running nicely this week. Spent the whole weekend trying to get it to work mind.
I was using an old bios, so flashed to a newer bios, switched my ram into the other pair of slots (2 and 4 - iirc 1+3 are best for BH5 ram etc)
Now it seems fine.

I was getting a load of corrupted downloads, eventually I realised this was down to the built in firewall I was using (I had never had a problem with this on my Ultra-D)
I was still getting some Bad files, so I've switch over to the Marvel LAN connector now.

The temp sensor on this chip is miles different to my Ultra-D was. With 1.3v on the Ultra-D my idle temps were around 30. I'm currently idling at 27 with 1.37v in the same weather. Certainly mounted the heatsink just aswell.
Because of what cooler I am using I was expecting temps to be worse, (up against all the wires from my dvd drives....)

Currently running nicely overclocked at 2.4GHz with the ram on the 166 divider bang on 200MHz. No need for it to run faster at the moment.

I'm still at stock at the moment. All I can remember is this ram worked well with the drive strength increased on my Ultra-D

Just wondered what drive strength/data drive strength and what tref value other people were using with my sort of memory.

DDS 7/1
Tref 3684

About the best it would run with me and others from what ive seen ;)

Hi all, need some help.

I am having some problems with my nec dvd rom and my mobo. So my first question is, does the warrenty get void if i flash the bios?

If not, then can someone point me to the latest official bios for me to flash to and explain what i need to do.

Ive tried eveything i can think of. But when i have my nec dvd rom connected to the mobo windows keeps freezing. I have put 2 pioneer dvd writers in and its fine.

Whether it just has an issue with my nec drive or dvd roms in gereral i dont know. But the two pioneers are working fine together.
