****Official Doom 4 Thread****

I think so.

I decided just to start a new game in a different slot on Nightmare difficulty, and use that run to collect everything.

It doesn't seem as big a waste of time doing it that way, as after 2 missions I know I'm going to need all those Health/Armour/Ammo and Weapon upgrades ASAP!

Current on level/stage 10 (Titan's Realm) and have roughly the same about of hours. Absolutely loving it, apart from the odd crash to desktop it's been smooth. Done some of the collectibles/trials along the way but didn't spend too much time hunting them. Will definitely be going back to get them all again though once I finish the campaign :)

Curious how people are finding the campaign now? Spoiler free if possible, not read much of the thread. Just wondering if it's good or if it's just a generic boring on the rails campaign like CoD or BF.

It's not a Call of Doom title. :D Though, saying that, originally that was how development was heading until they scrapped it and started again.

It's more of an old school title with very customisable options in the menu. If you like the original Doom, Quake / Q2, then I think you'll be very pleased with this.

The storyline is completely forgettable but sometimes that seems intentional (opening - you wake chained to an alter, break your chains and start shooting)

The game isn't on rails really, though you are sometimes walled off by needing a yellow or blue key (like the original game). You are sometimes given 3x objectives to find and can do them in an order of your choosing.

Some levels are linear, but you can still usually backtrack (unlike COD) to find secrets and stuff you may have missed.

Just couldn't wait for a month or so for the price to drop so I got this last night from cdkeys for £26 I think it was, bargain!

Took 4 hours to download and completed at midnight so it was a late night for me, I player an hour SP and an hour MP. Gotta say I am loving this so far and can't see that changing.

Everything is so fluid, it's an absolute joy to double jump and gib your way through hordes of the undead, comical even. The way way the guy completely disregards any advice in the cut scenes is hilarious, it's a big FU to the direction most games have been going recently with all the hand holding.

MP is hilarious, it's just an absolute mess, carnage everywhere, this reminds me of UT2004 with everything spamming rockets and instagibs everywhere - it's a battle of the fastest reactions and quickest thinking.

I thought I'd struggle to run this tbh but at 4K and with 8GB RAM, an i5 6600K (4.6Ghz) and a 980ti (OC'd to hell and back) I am getting well over a 100fps throughout everything but the most demanding battles and that is with absolutely everything maxed out. The PC does get a tad hot though!

If you like Unreal Tournament, Doom, Quake or Serious Sam, you'll love this.

I've got to the Foundry on Nightmare difficulty, love the challenge. But, I'm not satisfied with my FPS, usually it's around 60, sometimes 80, and in a few places it's dropped to 40.

I turned resolution scale down to 50% and with over 100 fps the game feels so much nicer.

I think I'm gonna hold off playing anymore until I get better performance. SLI is not supported yet right?

I do hope we see some extra campaigns and user created maps. One of the great things about the original doom was all of extra content you could get free.

Snapmap is exactly that mate.

User made maps, some are MP and some are SP. Played the top rated one last night and it was pretty good.

50% must look awful.

You only need to drop it down by 5 or 10% if you are having issues.

Anybody using Nvidia DSR with this? What smoothness are you using?

I have a 1080p monitor and I'm not sure if it looks better using 4x DSR or just going native.

Really I need to upgrade to a 4k 144hz beast or some such as the 980ti is hardly sweating as it stands...

It's awesome most fun I've had with a PC game for a long while.

One of the first games I have played for a long time which actually remembers its a game.

Good grapics plays really smooth and it#s just fun.

Modding for the older id games gave far more access to the low level functionality of the game - snapmap works a lot with prefabs and a lot less (as it stands) functionality for actual user made assets, etc.
