*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

I would try to get another in-house running, but my internet has taken a nose dive and the phone line isn't working, so someone has done something somewhere..

Hi guys, LoL player here.

Wanting to try Dota 2, I've signed up and I'm in a launch queue.

I know I've read threads on forums stating how Dota 2 is a hardcore version of the MOBA genre when compared to the more casual/newb friendly LoL? As someone who already plays LoL and understands the basics of last-hitting, turret aggro and taking down the base in order to win.

Am I already in a position to be able to grasp quite quickly what Dota 2 say differs from LoL, or is there more to Dota 2 that LoL players will have to learn?

I always link ex-LoL players this vid as the guy does a great job explaining the differences.

Pub games are kind of ridiculous, I dont know if people think they are playing an fps or what, but they go "I know I'll one v four or even 1 v 2 and win".

Yep, had a game earlier before. we had a batrider in my lane who was tower diving solo. I felt I had to try and rescue him twice, to which I got flamed for.

You can't win in pub's.

That's fair game for a level 6 batrider to me. 3+ stacks (now you're going to be auto attacking for base+45) and your ult+firefly will kill everyone bar really really heavily str based heroes. This would really only be dangerous if he gets stunned under the tower and aggro shifts to him.

The one by one feed will drop off the more games you play, people much prefer to retreat if given the option.

To stack a creep pull you need to pull ranged at 53 (window is really 52-54 for ranged) and upto 55 for melee. To pull to lane it's at 15s or 45s (+1 second for bot lane). Really you should either double stack then pull (to avoid a "super wave" - if you double the lane minions will be killed by the jungle creeps) or double camp pull (pull one camp to another).

Had some fun games yesterday with Jongo, getting gradually better.

I finally realised that my G500 mouse keeps double/triple left clicking every time I click, which is why the menu's kept opening and closing themselves and just generally causing me headaches in-game. Looking for a replacement mouse now if anyone has any suggestions, also made a post about it under the relevant forum with more info.

I play in a team of usually 4 and we pub match it.. and every single time the 5th random is captain of the world, he's the proest player you've ever seen but oddly everytime I ask where he placed in TI3 I dont get a reply?

So annoying, the elitist attitudes in this game make me laugh. Especially ones from Riki's or Drow Rangers.

Why is there no surrender button where the team can vote to give up. I was playing a game where our team was roughly level 8 against level 14 and rising, couldnt farm or do anything, some of them were just trying to kill us in the fountain. In tournaments there allowed to surrender.

So people don't give up as soon as you go slightly behind. If there was a surrender option you'd get people yelling at you to agree right from the second you are slightly behind. It stops people from giving up when games could still be won.

It's been requested on the forums I believe. What I don't understand is when people say GG and then continue to fight back. Either sit in the well or don't say GG and keep playing lol.

Some games are a complete stomp nothing you can do, at those times I do wish there were surrender buttons, but then when an epic comeback happens even with a whiney bitch or two in the team I'm glad it isn't there.
