*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

Getting my bearings with playing zues, not a bad character overall! I need to continue to farm during mid/late game as my leveling takes a big dip! level 22 viper stomps all over me (Lvl 17) :(

Game was over zeus had aghs bkb, centaur blink heart etc. Bit of an early call but delayed inevitable, pity both games were a stomp

Matchmaking game after was good fun haha

Aye, got battered. I was playing better as DS, but couldn't hold off Tom in the middle, SWM is a pain in the ass.

That matchmaker was a great laugh, and one after I played as life stealer for the first time, amazing fun.

Good games last night. We didn't pick well first game, two mids in our line-up didn't work out. Coordinating quickly with tune was a small issue. I did still want to defend the high ground but had no idea they'd included a gg finisher, before I knew what was going on it was over.

Will be on again tonight.

Just teamed up with a friend, was the best game and most enjoyable game so far! Was having fun one shooting people with sniper, and constant high damage shots that were just quick as! Had a bounty hunter on the other team, and got me once a twice, got my self a gem and all was sorted!

I must say, starting to get the hang of the game considering only started a few days ago! One thing is for sure - I can't play as a mele character, I'm just utter rubbish!

Hi guys, LoL player here.

Wanting to try Dota 2, I've signed up and I'm in a launch queue.

I know I've read threads on forums stating how Dota 2 is a hardcore version of the MOBA genre when compared to the more casual/newb friendly LoL? As someone who already plays LoL and understands the basics of last-hitting, turret aggro and taking down the base in order to win.

Am I already in a position to be able to grasp quite quickly what Dota 2 say differs from LoL, or is there more to Dota 2 that LoL players will have to learn?

The fact dota has a turning animation seems to confuse LoL players in to thinking its slower pace, although it isn't :D

All feel slower pace compared to HoN though

Denying creeps, that's about it.

Then just learn the heroes and their abilities.

This pretty much, I think in LoL you have a dedicated jungler? This is not always the case in dota early on lanes are 2 Offlane 1 Mid 2 Safe. < This is quite variable though depending on the hero composition.

If your playing support stacking and pulling the jungle creeps is always good to learn not sure if thats in LoL.

To create a stack attack the creep about 5 seconds before the minute and lead them away from the sight of the camp.

To pull, attack the jungle camp in the safe lane just before the creep wave comes past it. I think the timings are ~01s and 31s. This is useful to regaining lane equilibrium and denying xp to enemy heroes.

That's all I can think of currently, basically just practice with as many heroes as possible when you start to get a feel for their strengths and weakness's.
