What the expletive is this New Bloom event?

It wont let me play nornal game modes, instead I'm stuck wathcing a countdown timer for 30mins to allow me to actually play a mode I don't want to play? Fail Dota!

Am I doing something wrong and is there someway to dodge this mode? Surely there must be, how can they stop the rest of the game for this tripe?

Im assuming you haven't loaded up the game today newts as you can play unranked or ranked since the last patch when the new bloom is running.

That feeling when the volvo gods shine apon thee :)

Solo queued with with 4 team mates that all spoke English, communicated and greeted everyone at the start of the game.

Enemy team left Anti-mage to solo vs me (PA) and a lich, poor bas***d. Not only that my team were playing objective based dota, going for towers and ending the game as soon as possible.

ty volvo, please don't give me 5 bad games in a row to make up for this event!

Lucky man :p

I've (hopefully) broke the back of 2.7k now. Been exclusively playing Axe, I've been terrible in getting kills but my assists and general team play has been grand. Last 3 (which I have won all) I've went 9/22/49 so despite getting slapped around set up the team for the win.

Really happy to go from 2.2k to 2.7k (despite taking a while to do so) and pretty confident i can break 3k in the non too distant future. Small beans to some of the better players inhere but really happy with my progress :)

This game got me 3 low priority matches lol. Fair enough I must have been reported before this as well but I know this was the final blow as I got reported within 5 minutes lol.

I was watching BDN stream the other day where he accidentally showed his Skype and a convo with Icefrog where he was saying the report systems got to change because pros are getting reported and then have to complete the crappy all pick games. I like the overwatch system of CS:GO myself. I think that would work well in dota. But even CS:GO has another crappy report system where if you don't do well you can get locked out of matchmaking for upto 7 days. I know I'm bad at CS:GO I'm silver ffs...

Looking for tips never played mobas before but really liked the look of this game more so than league.

I have no idea what all the lingo is or means iv done my tutorials so get tthe aim of the game etc would love some guidance or advice. Add me as we'll if any one else is starting out steam:Troy^

1st tip - As soon as someone says or types something in chat which isn't positive. Instant mute them by hitting the key above tab and then click the mute button.

The game will then start becoming enjoyable :D

Save yourself the heartache anddont bother, especially if you are soloing.

Fantastic game playing with friends/team/regulars but a truly horrific experience to PUG through. I was about 1 bad pug away from an aneurysm so I just stopped :p I'll be back at some point I don't doubt as the game is like crack but it frays on the nerves :p

This. Solo Queuing is just horrible. I returned from a break and fell 500 mmr. I know I'm not great and also became rusty but with a losing streak that long i quit.

I just don't know what I was doing wrong tbh - tried offensive/supportive/defensive options , tried my favourite heroes... Nothing.
There were quite a few updates over my 6 month break so maybe I didn't understand the finer points? I know there were several games that were lost on my part but when you've had such a long losing streak and someone decided to afk or feed it just adds salt to the wound!

Despite all this I'm getting that itch to play again but I just don't know what I would change this time round. I just relieved a invite to HotS so might give that a go - though it's meant to be overly simplified. It's the depth of Dota that keeps me interested....

The only way I play Dota is with my friend, I never play solo games ever I just don't enjoy the game playing on my own.

Even with 2 it's sometimes a nasty experience depending on the rest of your team, but solo I just can't handle the emotional distress it causes me.

I play a lot of CSGO so am used to toxic players and to be honest when you get people serious about winning and taking a game seriously you get this stuff

Just ignore the people whining about toxic players, try it yourself and you can always just stop if you don't enjoy it...

Toxic players are going to be in every competitive game and its silly to not try them because of that IMO.

The Welcome to Dota, you suck guide that someone linked is probably the best place to start. Just playing games and watching twitch streams helped me improve when I played a lot.

I've been trying to play solo ranked lately and it is frustrating beyond belief. If you want to play core you basically have to accept there is going to be 5 cores and you'll have to fight for farm. Play support and you'll be the only one and your team will moan at you constantly. People's item choices are terrible (played against a doom and 3 people went Linkins sphere first item (Naga, Weaver and Nyx) Needless to say we lost that one pretty quickly. I even had a game where our carry DC-d immediately and abandoned yet I still lost MMR....Maybe Valve need to work on that system a little.

I play a fair bit of solo ranked, I have no specific role (happy to be support or core) but it is a very frustrating game going support. It is basically starting the game trusting that your carries can play, you can do your job perfectly, bankrupt yourself on wards, sacrifice yourself to save a carry and when you lose you will lose mmr and also face accusations of feeding or being crap. I don't even mind the flaming i just get sick and tired of having to go a decent core just so i dont have to rely on my team-members to win.

Exactly. It is almost impossible to climb MMR as a support. Take this game for example (link) I was solo support that game (I think Abaddon got one set of wards but I did everything else) I ended up the highest level on my team because everyone else was so damn incompetent (aghs on Luna really...). Do I deserve to lose MMR for that? The system is clearly broken, I have no idea how they'd do it but there must be a better way.

Funniest thing is we got to the end of the game and my team flames me for 'stealing too much farm' until I pointed out I had the least hits...
