*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

but how big is the game world compared to say GW2?

I would say its larger, but its very subjective until you can find actual km measurements.

The open world PvP zone is about 3x larger then GW2

Is it primrarily a PvP game at max level or will it be dungeon/raid focused, or a mix of the two?

You have the huge open world PvP at end game, you have 16 veteran dungeons (heroic dungeons), 2 raids I think and an adventure zone which is a zone entirely aimed at group and raid play with dynamic events and non instanced dungeons for single players and groups. At launch they only have 1 adventure zone.

Takes around 100 - 120 hrs to reach 50 and then you have the veteran ranks which you earn through doing group content like PvP and raids and quests in other faction zones. They are called 50+ and 50++.

Is there exp spots in the PVP zone? in DAOC some of the best PVE exp was had by exping in the PVP frontiers ;)

There is towns dotted around the PvP zone that give pve quests if you control the keeps in them areas.

Also dungeons too.

If you look at a map of Cyrodiil from Oblivion, the main towns are the towns where you get quests from. Oh and the zone is larger then the one in Oblivion too.

Will there be pve content for groups of more than 5 people

Yes there is 2x 12 man raids, IIRC.

will there be instanced battlegrounds or Cyrodiil 3 faction map is the only instanced pvp?

Cyrodiil is the only place for battleground style pvp, its HUGE though.

How does Cyrodiil faction war feel, is it similar to eternal battleground in GW2?

According to a lot of the DOAC crowds, its very similar to that and GW2. Apart from larger?

Does pvp actually feel fun?

Subjective, loads of people find it fun. Some don't.

is it about getting used to this combat dynamic or "love or hate it" type of deal?

I guess its about getting used to the combat. As with any MMO that is trying to be somewhat different, you have to adjust to the differences. If you want a game that feels familiar, then i don't think you'll like this game.

This weekends beta has the Combat Feel and starter zone overhaul. So combat should feel better for the people that had issues.

I'm really not sure what class to play.

Nightblade was OK but archery got very boring quickly (got to ~level 9)

I tried the other classes a little, but what I really enjoyed was Templar. Unfortunately not the healing side of Templar... Templar DPS! Is this going to be viable at 50 for dungeons/raids/whatever or are templars always going to be considered the healers and not be able to keep up with the other DPS classes?

Very viable as DPS.

One thing to remember, just because you levelled up as a DPS, doesn't mean you can't completely switch to light armour, resto staff and heal.

Hell if you wanted to, you could go bow + ranged magic.

Etc

Stop the launcher from downloading. Close the launcher.

Copy and paste "The Elder Scrolls Online" into the same directory. You should now have "The Elder Scrolls Online" and "The Elder Scrolls Online - Copy".

Rename "The Elder Scrolls Online - Copy" to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU".

Reload the launcher and your done.

See I copied the files and moved it into a new folder named The Elder Scrolls Online EU and yet it still wants to download the whole thing again. And with my rubbish connection it won't be ready until Monday!

Give me a minute, I'm looking into it. Its doing the same for me.

EDIT:

Ok i 'think' i've fixed it.

Basically do the copy and paste thing as above. Now when you read the launcher alerts it'll ask you to migrate by creating another folder. Click DECLINE and DECLINE again. Then in the launcher click the top right hand cog wheel and check you have clicked the EU megaserver and it should not need to redownload the client.

When you load the launcher, it will detect that you should be playing on the EU megaserver and do you want to migrate to that now.

CLICK DECLINE and DECLINE again, otherwise you will download the entire game again.

After you have clicked decline, go to "x:\xxxx\Zenimax Online" (xxx is where you personally installed it) and check you have the folder called "The Elder Scrolls Online" and its 30gb in size.

Then just copy and paste it to the same location. You will get 2 folders then "The Elder Scrolls Online" and "The Elder Scrolls Online - Copy". Now all you need to do is rename "The Elder Scrolls Online - Copy" to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" and reload the launcher.

If it asks you to migrate DECLINE it again, it'll download a small patch and then your done.

To check your game is working OK, click the cog wheel in the top right, make sure it says your on the European Megaserver. Apply and click play.

Enter in your personal details and it should say it can't find any servers. This tells you your client is fine.

If your concerned you can run the repair tool to check your installation too. The above process i followed and mine is working fine.

Also BTW its running a really up to date client. I think they are throwing everything at us this beta.

Meh, it's another reason (any reason) for him to put the boot in. I wonder what sort of response WS doing this would yield from him, not the same I'd wager.

The mount is in response to people being upset with the CE only mount.

All it does is offer you the chance to "upgrade" to get the mount (Which you can get in game) at a reduced price and earlier.

The public wanted it, they gave them it.

Thanks for this lateX'dog I did it and it worked fine(had to change the server in the setting to Europe after I had done it though but all working fine.
Should I delete the old (non EU) game folder now (the one I copied and pasted from)?

I would keep the folder just in case, you can try removing it, see what happens and put it back if you need to.
