**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

That works, but its the same as just getting out of it normally if you position it correctly. It just snaps the armour round to face the front. I thought there would be chains holding it up like in the stills, to indicate that its docked.

Oh right. Yeah there are no chains as it appears in some pics / videos.

Anyone else get that bug with the mission objective not marking as completed when you
had to kill all of the enemies in Concord? I got in the power armour, picked up the mini gun, jumped down, killed the only enemy I could find (one deathclaw) then spent over an hour scouring the whole place for enemies, including the surrounding area, and there were none, so I used a console command to mark the objective as completed because I wanted to progress!

As for settlements getting attacked, I was away doing a mission and got a message that the Castle was under attack. Fast travelled straight there, and there were around 8 super mutants with mutant hounds attacking. Luckily my entry maze and wall of heavy machineguns took them all out.

How many times do your companions ask for a chat before giving you their mission? I'm eager to get rid of Nick but he's asked for a chat a couple of times.

I am being a massive hypocrite here, but I think the best way to play these games, is to act how you would if you were actually the character you are playing.

Meaning that you wouldn't worry about which faction you choose because of missing content, you would just go with whichever felt right.

Meaning that you wouldn't hang on to a companion in case they said something interesting, you would let them know you wanted to part ways and do it.

And so on. :)

The next playthrough is the one where you deliberately make different decisions for extra content!

Nick's worth keeping if only for opening locked terminals. You don't get any xp if you command him to do it but at least it skips that horrible minigame

OMG what's happened to me? Just spent 2 hours building Sanctuary! At least all now have beds.

I spent more than that setting up the red rocket garage to be my permanent home. (I dont move around when I play Fallout/Elder Scrolls)

Haha!

I have made the Castle my home now.

You're still on your honeymoon with the game. And for me personally, I will never start a fresh game when I know I can max one char, and make s save at the crossroads.

As for red rocket, you may find it gets a little cramped up there. You can't send companions back to their origins so they have to take up residence at your bases. Between 5 companions and 6 pa suits, I had no room left

This is the first fallout game I have played where I have not been totally evil/just murdered everyone I could for lols. :p

Yes you can, just press cancel when presented with the list of destinations and they go back to their original one.

you have steam sync enabled.

You delete the files from your file system.
You launch fallout. It re-syncs taking ages.
All your saves are back.

Last night I started stripping weapon mods and renaming and reorganising my arsenal by range and function, so I can easily choose them from the inventory. I looked up and it was 2am....

I'm really enjoying it now, and haven't even really started the main quest. The map feels big and interesting, I like the graphics just how they come, and the atmosphere is great.

My favourite thing is sneaking around at night and happening across firefights- the crack of small arms fire and occasional huge explosions in the distance is just staggeringly atmospheric. For me it gives a great illusion of a living, fleshed out world.

^^^ That's my problem I have a workshop setup with trunks so I spend and hour or so after mission stints cooking, modding and sorting all my parts in to the trunks. Then kit myself out again for another mission stint.

Oh well it passes the time.

+1 They've done a great job with the world... I do not understand the early criticisms about the map being small because it is just a night-and-day massive improvement over both 3 and NV in my opinion regardless of the exact square-milage of the map itself...

I've not even gone to Diamond City yet but that area around the Corvega factory (Lexington?) already feels so much more like a real place (or rather what a real city would be like if destroyed in this way)

In fact at this point my biggest criticisms are:

- Not enough/badly planned tutorial on the base building aspect
- In some areas the texture work is a bit sloppy (mods will fix that)
- The story...

I may just not be far enough in to it yet but yeah the story is a bit underwhelming so far; I still just don't care at all about my characters supposed motivation for what he's doing. Join the minutemen? Sure I guess... Go help this settlement?... yeah alright might as well...

I think I'd have preferred the massively hands-off approach of NV (i.e. just shove you into the world without a lot of exposition and let you work out your own goals)... or for them to have fleshed out the prologue a bit more, get us more invested in the character (I've spoken about this already so won't repeat myself!)
