The .50 cal sniper rifle is severely under powered in this game. I like to play as a sneaky sniper and its impossible to play this way due to how useless the sniper rifle is. Direct headshot with a .50 can with 2x sneak bonus and it takes an 8th of their life away lol. Then the whole camp is alerted and I have to switch to shotgun.

how much damage is youes doiong?

and do you have eprks int he single shot gun tree? cause you get over 100% extra damage + ignore armour through those perks.

Yeah I found that as well, now using this mod Weapon Balance Overhaul by The Iron Rose, now most goes down nicely with headshot and sneak bonus. That is if you up to using any mods of course. :)

Ohh and as Tefal said, you taken any perks ? I got 3 levels of Rifleman perk as well. [Attacks with non-automatic rifles do 60% more damage and ignore 20% of a target's armor.]

The Guass rifle can be had relatively early game. Sounds like it would suit your playstyle, pretty brutal weapon. With the right perks the damage becomes phenomenal on it.

Its a mixture of both. They do scale in some areas, where you will find progressively harder and higher tier enemies.

There are however some locations where the level is also fixed. That Saugus Ironworks location appears to have fixed level enemies which are actually quiet high level thus the skulls on every other character showing they out level you by quiet abit. Most people around level 10-15 will have a difficult time there as they start off at a higher level, but on the other hand it means later on, when you go there once they re spawn, you can slaughter them :p

Ah okay, thanks. :)

Any idea how I get rid of hancock? he's been following me around for ages, but from the talk dialogue there doesn't seem to be any way to send him anywhere, (which seemed to work fine with other companions.. )

I have been putting perks in that tree, think I'm up to 80% now. Still seems very under powered. At the start of the game it was one shotting enemies with a headshot and I have been adding mods gradually, yet it seems to have gone weaker instead of more powerful.

I have seen a mod that adjusts the power of the guns, but don't really want to start messing with the gameplay on the first playthrough. I'll try the last perk in the non automatic rifle tree next if I am a high enough level to se if that helps.

Hoping there will be some new weapons added as part of the season pass. Like the GRA from NV. There really isnt many weapons in the game, just endless variations of the same gun. Sometimes to the point you cant even see the end of the description when you are looting a chest lol.

Go to one of your other companions and ask them to follow you instead

asbestos lined combat armour = no cvatching fire

That sounds like a plan... once I find some combat armour!

In the meantime decided to push on with the Lost Patrol - IMHO another mission which should never have been offered at Level 12. Rock hard Super Mutants and their dogs, then just as I was coming up with a plan to thin them out (retreat and fire) out pops a
nuke equipped Super Mutant suicide bomber
. Quite apart from the questionable morality of having such a character in the game, given ongoing real world events, VATS no longer allows you to target the weapon and the odds on hitting a limb are never more than about 60%. I ran. I died.

Don't get me wrong I'm loving the game and worst case I'll just have to drop the difficulty level albeit I don't really want to do that. It should be possible to play through on Normal in order to enjoy the story and not face irregular levelling or impassible pinchpoints. It's like they took the rock hard elements from The Pitt and Point Lookout, doubled them and made that the standard gameplay. I'm up for a challenge, but give me a chance!

I discovered Swan last night. That was a fun fight :D

Started the Freedom Trail. My girlfriend has been to Boston so I was impressed to find out it's a real thing
minus the code word ha
!

you can just select right arm to hit the bomb, or do it free aim you dont need vats.

aim and spam bullets at his hand only takes 1 hit

one thing is if you sneak up and nail thier mini nuke you usually take out the whole group

Seems a bit over-sensitive to me. It's a game. Calm down.

I am calm, it was just an observation!

Nailed the blogger... Spectacular explosion and whoop of glee from me elicited enquiry from SWMBO what the fuss was about. She's only just arrived in Sanctuary on her PS4 version. Now just need to go back in and take out the rest of the nest.

Dont waste a mininuke by shooting his arm. Pickpocket him or kill him from a distance.

Anyone else finding mini-nukes really horribly rare? I only have 12... but I have 13 Fatmans...

I got stuck there as well, I was about the same level as you. Killed few of them with my sniper rifle from far away, including the guy you're talking about but decided to leave going in till later. I'm now level 18 so next time I'll go back to finish it, also got a quest from one of my settlers to clear area not too far away so will do that at the same time

Kind of, but then I don't use them that often. I've only had two twice. One on a legendary Alpha Deathclaw, and the second time against

Swan

It's good that they are rare, I mean they pretty much oneshot anything that isn't a boss type enemy, especially when you use the Big Boy from Diamond City and get two nukes for the price of one.
