Considering trying survival, but I'm torn. No fast travel means that ammo for the weapons you're specializing in will be extremely valuable. It'll be frustrating to keep running out. With everything doing so much damage, is melee even viable?
What's the [M] all about? Never noticed it.
Sorry but your CPU is not quite modern enough this game needs more than 4 Cores + 6-8GB VRam & it also needs fast DDR3 or 4 the faster Ram the faster the FPS apparentlyThis is a long shot, but here goes.
In general play, performance is fine. I've turned some stuff down (and godrays and volumetric lighting off) and it's OK even in the infamous places like the roof of the Corvega factory.
That's in general play. It all goes pear-shaped when I get to my own settlements. I've gone to town with building - infinite settlement item limit and a couple of dozen mods for extra stuff to build. The problem has really hit since Wasteland Workshop, though. When I'm in a large, complex settlement built from concrete my framerate drops to pretty much unusable. I can go under 10 fps. My GPU drops to ~30% load. I am building many items and using a lot of light sources, but the framerate would be tolerable if the GPU was being used fully (or even close to it). Could it be bottlenecking so hard on the CPU that the GPU can't even be utilised properly? My PC isn't that bad.
Relevant specs:
Core 2 Quad 6600 at 3.2GHz
Radeon 7950 at 1GHz GPU, 1.4GHz memory
8GB DDR2-800
A quick look indicates that this is a common problem but I didn't see a solution.

There's something in addition to my kit being a bit under par. I'm going to buy a new toy anyway (there's no real scope for upgrading so I'm going to buy a new PC and move my graphics card and drives over to it), but there's another factor affecting Fallout 4 performance.
Survival annoying me now, I like enemies having more damage and dealing more damage, stops things becoming weak bullet sponges, but having to sleep at settlements etc is just quite tedious after a few hours

I saw the quick save mods, but saving isn't the issue really, plenty of sleeping bags around etc, just dislike being unable to remove all fatigue just because you're not in a proper bed. No fast travel then means you spend most of your time going back and forth![]()
used to be a bedroll mod in fallout 3..so you could camp out and rest
suprised there isnt one already for 4
I might try darker nights mod..with the WOTC spawns mod it might make it a lot scarier at night as they will be so much easier to stumble into gangs at night
