*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

going on uk psn now to dl the demo :) cheers for the headsup Poly :D Very interested in seeing the differences as i didn't get WC2010).

Quality, just cant wait to finish work and download the remaining 5% :D

Has anyone played the Pro Evo demo and compared yet ? The Pro Evo thread seems quiet

Is the 360 demo only available to gold subscribers? Well for the first few days at least?

If so, do you still get a month free Gold membership if you create a new account?

Awesome new skills :D
Ahh so theyve removed the McGeady spin and that other trick where you would roll it to side and stop it with your toe. Much prefer the new ones...

Ive put far more effort into Pro Evo demo than the FIFA one just because I couldnt get my head around why people were saying it was good/brillant - IMHO Pro Evo has got better, its a fair representation of football, but there are masses of flaws with it. FIFA just seems to have got better again, theyve made it less ping pong and produced a slower more methodical game, the changes complement each other (while in Pro Evo some things just break the gameplay) - there still a few things I dont love (for example, weird bug that the ball sometimes rebounds wildly in a tackle).

I need to spend more time on the FIFA demo but what Ive played with seems far more realistic and to me it looks like it improved more than Pro Evo has this year. I do think though that these demos arent necessarily 100% representative of the final games (in hindsight FIFA 10s demo was better than the game), but FIFA feels more like football, while Pro Evo is trying to be like football - theres too many distractors for me that break that illusion...

My opinions after around 9 or 10 games is that this is an improvement over 10. I thought 10 was a great game but then I thought 09 was a great game which 10 improved on. 11 looks set to improve on 10 if the demo is anything to go by and from the information we've been given it seems that EA have actually listened to the fans this time around. The most annoying bugs and glitches that were in Online Clubs in 10 now seem set to be eradicated in 11, we may be seeing the Russian league which a lot of people will be pleased about, getting the chance to play as Zenit, CSKA, Rubin Kazan etc

The graphics are an improvement over 10 in my opinion, I haven't played WC2010 apart from the demo so I can't really compare it to the few games I've had on that. Scoring seems much more difficult this year but then I expect it to be only a matter of time before I get used to that. The passing is a marked improvement over 10, there is much less ping pongyness although it hasn't been completely removed from the game, playing as Arsenal it was quite easy to just ping pong between the defence and the midfield. Where I think the game has definitely improved noticeably is the defence and the goalkeepers. The GK's don't just rush out unless it's viable given the situation, they don't run out each and every time and they generally seem harder to beat 1 on 1, now it's no longer a foregone conclusion that you will score, the keepers can make some good desperation saves. The defence seems better and the tackling, especially the slide tackles are much more efficient than they were in 10. I also like the new jostling, it's much better having proper 360 degree jostling instead of the FIFA 10 style whereby a defender is jostling for the ball and you just turn in the opposite direction and they automatically stop jostling you, much better now with the addition of the 360 degree jostle.

I still feel that certain players, notably Ibrahimovch, David Villa and Drogba in the demo seem to be TOO strong, even though they are strong in real life they wouldn't realistically hold off two 6 foot plus centrebacks that are jostling them from each side, that area still needs improving, but overall this demo has played out well in accordance to my expectations. I love the Be A Goalkeeper and it's actually pretty fun and very challenging, I don't know if it's a position I'd like to play game after game as I could see it getting boring, but it certainly has it's appeal, although what isn't appealing is if you make a mistake then you look like an absolute idiot plus you've cost your team a goal. My main reason for maybe wanting to use my own created goalkeeper in Online Clubs matches was to counter the bad generic players you were given in 10, 5'4 'keepers included, but apparently EA have put a fixed overall rating on the generics this year and the goalkeepers will no longer be one of the seven dwarves, with that in mind it virtually negates the need for a human goalkeeper in my opinion.

I was initially considering the purchases of this for online and PES for offline, but I think after playing this demo and comparing the two, PES isn't even going to get a second look, it's dreadful and it pales in comparison to this. EA have raised the bar yet again in gameplay terms and if we get a half decent Manager Mode and a good Online Clubs experience then I can see this game staying inside my PS3 for a very long time.

I'm a little disappointed by this, it just feels really sluggish
to me :(

It will play a lot better when you have other people to play against. Playing against the computer is never as good, as the computer tends to be methodical and as a human it is easy for us to find out what works, and expand upon that, eventually trumping the computer most of the time.

When you get a game with a real person this game is a lot better.. we all work to our strengths and try find weaknesses in our opponents and try to "exploit" :p them..

I have been playing with some of the skill moves, they seem easy to complete and a bit more intuative... tweaked is probably a better word.

One question while I remember - how did people find the BaG practise and the addition of Handballs?

Personally Goalkeeping looks like great fun but for Club I suspect people will learn 'tricks' to easily score when they know they have a human GK. Though it may also be quite a boring position, but the rewards/plaudits for doing saves seems even more enjoyable than scoring. Though I expect to be able to have 2 VPs effectively - one for outfield and another as a GK as I dont want to build a VP specifically for GF duties so they lack other skills...

Handballs are a more than a welcome addition, especially the option to either have it on fully or with it excluding penalty shouts (I prefer it fully on but can imagine it being too harsh in normal online play) - had at least 1 handball a game with a couple of penalties...

@Kill - Check out the BAP mode - it seems you can progress from player to player-manager to manager. Im liking the sound of that...

to be honest....I'm crap. So I've always just done player vs A.I. Anyone else on here really crap that I can play against?

Yeah Im crap - played say 10 human 1v1 games on FIFA 10 - I only buy it for Club, 1v1 bores me silly once you play Club regularly...
