*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

Love it, love it, love it.

Really enjoying it at the moment, I think im going to spend a lot of time as a keeper. I used to play in goal and this is the closest i'll get to it again.

I'll have to get some one liners for my keeper then Souja :D:D

Can't wait to see wait to hear them :D Only 2 weeks to think of some :p

Forehead like a marshmellow :p

first impressions

Well you cant hold down X and circle and expect it to nullify and sieze possession for you np. Defending is harder.

Free kicks seem harder basically because shooting is harder. Shooting as a whole feels much more sensitive. I think the controls are still same for free kicks havent scored one yet though.

In fact entire control scheme is geared towards sensitive touch on controls that wont please the ping pong sprinters. I like the new rating system for players.

I like how there is a marked difference in control and passing when someone like messi is on the ball.

Hmmm..well I just had a few games on it, and my first impressions are that overall, not enough difference from fifa10 to warrant a price tag around the likely £40.

Sensitivity of passes and shots is a bit different yes, and a few minor tweaks here and there, but otherwise, nothing THAT different. Some may argue why change what doesn't need to be changed..but in that case a £40 price tag is scandalous in my book.

I'm sure plenty of people will still buy it though, so me not doing so won't worry EA.

I have just played the World Cup game having played the demo, and there are big differences, the players 'feel' completely different, and its much harder to string moves together.

That is compared to the WC game, compared to FIFA 10 it absolutely is FAR better/different. I cant see how you wouldn't be able to see the fairly big differences, unless you've barely played either.

My opinions after around 9 or 10 games is that this is an improvement over 10. I thought 10 was a great game but then I thought 09 was a great game which 10 improved on. 11 looks set to improve on 10 if the demo is anything to go by and from the information we've been given it seems that EA have actually listened to the fans this time around. The most annoying bugs and glitches that were in Online Clubs in 10 now seem set to be eradicated in 11, we may be seeing the Russian league which a lot of people will be pleased about, getting the chance to play as Zenit, CSKA, Rubin Kazan etc

/snip

I think with this post you have summed it up pretty well. I can see it being in my 360 for a long time as well but I have F12010 to play too BAH!

Think they made shooting too difficult now. Combined with better keepers = a lot of frustrating 0-0 draws. Shooting and movement doesnt have the same zip and speed as fifa 10. I guess one reason why they do it coz now everyone is forced to relearn the sweet spots.. (right amount of touch and force on trigger etc)

Certainly enjoying it, I love WC2010 to bits, so this is great, WC with a few tweaks, better, more thought out system, going to take a while to get things down like in WC, but it'll be great and not even thought about cancelling my pre-order.

Only downside really was the close-in camera on set pieces, made it harder to get a feel for the scenario, especially corners, but maybe that'll be a changable camera angle in the full game, if not, ah well!

Cannot believe how awful the PES demo was :(

Well i found it allot more difficult that FIFA2010 WC and 10 and played it pro like the others, Shooting is better not that i score many goals. Massive difference in the tackling.

Defendign is harder as others have mentioned thou i sense it will be easier to score from far out this time. BUT i hate that dam penalty system i hated it in the wc fifa i really wish they didnt use it and just use the one in 10 i prefer that one =(

just had a couple of games :D

do you guys play with all assists off or not?

I play with them all off. I did try a few games with them on to check out the Pro Passing, but after getting used to manual on Fifa 10 Pro Passing still seems ping pong to me.

I then switched them all off and switched on the new analog sprint. Loved the demo after that. Still haven't got into the habit of analog sprint though.

If you played NHL 10, then you won't have many problems switching the assisted off for passing as you'll be in the habit of aiming and weighting passes. Shooting takes some getting used to though.

played a game with all assist off and rofl the ball was all over the place especially when i tried to shoot :D

Can someone explain the penalty system? I thought the green/red bit was power but then there's a power bar after that. Then how do you pause in the run up? And can you still miss by holding a direction too hard?

I've only had one but 70% of penalties were skied (by me and the AI)

The green bit is composure, the bit after that is power.Don't press any direction until you've set the composure and power. Then as your player is running up hold the direction you want. There is an invisible aiming reticule that starts in the centre of the goal. As you hold the direction this moves towards the area of the goal you are aiming at. If you hold that direction too long then it speeds up and you can miss the goal.

In the arena dribble into the box then press down on the dpad. You can practice penalties with the Reticule visible (press LT). It gets a lot easier once you see how fast\slow the reticule moves.

Good information, I never knew about holding LT/L2 to show the reticule. :)
