*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

Well it all starts this friday :D Eurogamer posted their review up and gave it an 8 mentioned its lost some if its fun due to being more realistic that was only thing from it they mentioned bad.

My ps3 tag is Mazzab so add me for some ownage :D (im crap really :P)

I wouldn't listen to Eurogamer, 70% of their reviews are something 'against the grain' so they get visitors to the site, that said its still pretty good.

Does this new version have that new EA thing implemented where you cant play onilne if you buy it 2nd hand?

And any confirmation on release price at midnight?

Yes Fifa 11 has the code in the box for first hand purchases, and a code has to beought from EA if youget it second hand.

No confirmation on any prices. IGN gave it 9.5/10.

Getting close to Friday now, cannot wait. :D

Yeah sure mate...

I also play 5-2-1-2 which is a regular formation, play with a "1 star" team in the world cup, select this formation, select counter attack and go beat the Spain Brazil Argentina and England (myself incl) lamerZz

young>lennon

is young not in the squad selection?

i'll add you when fifa 11 is out, i no longer have 10 (sold it) and didnt buy wc.

as for pressure/aggression abuser's.

aggression makes the player give away a lot of free kick's.

im a free kick god, so i love it when they use it.

pressure makes their defender's run out of position, so long as your a decent passer, you can easily, out pass the other team and open huge gaps.

so its easy to counter them, it isnt easy to counter 5 at the back, well ive not found a way, against a decent player.

i stand by custom formations shouldnt be allowed, because you can set up your team to be unbeatable, even though the other player has had 75% of the possession.

brazil also use a 4-2-2-2 formation, no team in the world plays with more than 3 players in a forward position. also no team in the world plays with 5 at the back unless they are playing for the draw.

these formations have found a way to manipulate the game engine in order to be unbeatable. with 5 at the back you can cope with ANY attack. then with 4 up front you can penetrate ANY defence.

i use a 5-3-2 when someone uses these tactics against me, that way i at least build up play to my forwards instead of hoofing it up.

its also very hard to change formation during a game if your players cant play in the positions causing you to use subs or play someone out of position at the start of a game.

maybe their should be 2 leagues or it should be banned. i know why its done, but i disagree with it. the only way to counter it is to use it yourself, so im forced to do so.

why would i use my normal formation when i know it has no chance of winning against these types?

Shame that devalues the game a little as I normally always sell them on before the next one comes out. If you dont play online do you still need to use the code?

Certainly wont be getting this if its full price on release. If it's released £25-£28 at midnight I will probably get it if i can get to the shop.

I've never been able to do free kicks. I never understood how they worked. Always seems random to me. :D

I never use a custom formation, always play default. You can tell when you're playing some sad bugger thats sat for ages and worked out whats unbeatable as they have seemingly 11 defenders. I'm going to agree with C64 and Psycho, custom formations are lame and they should only be allowed in non ranked matches

Rubbish, it's as equally part of the game as actually controlling the players. You have to think on your feet and work out how to break the other team down.

I just play standard tactics. But thats just because I can't be bothered to change the settings.

I think if i do play against someone unsporting i will just copy their tactics and play the game out then find someone else to play. i don't believe in dropping out of games.

I had a go on the demo last night I have to say it's different from 9/10, I think it's a good different.

I'm used to playing on World Class on 10/WC and I found it difficult to keep up with the AI even on professional, still it was good fun. Can't wait for my preorder to arrive on Friday. :D

There's a few youtube videos with free-kick tutorials, but they're definitely not random. It may seem that way when you do the same thing with two players, but get different results. Each player has their own set of attributes though (Curve, Power etc).

You use LB (L1) to get a driven free-kick or RB(R1) to add more curl. As you press the shoot button (as the power bar is increasing) hold the left stick in the direction you want to curl the ball. I.e if you hold up and left the ball will curl to the left with dip. The more power you add the later in the balls flight the curl will start to take effect. Using the driven freekick it's difficult to get much curl due to the power.

A lot of the time I use neither button - especially on the edge of the area. It's surprising how little power you need on freeekicks on the edge of the area and try and go around the wall where possible.

Something I will definately practice more if I get the (Or practice in the demo)game. It definately gives you an extra edge to your game.

Do you find it easier or the same for FKs in Fifa 11?

There V simple mate..

There is a vdieo on youtube which is excellent.. Ill see if I can find it.

Push your Directional Analogue stick forward towards the goal. If you are right next to the 18 yard box line power just under 2 bars, if you are 10 - 15 further back from said line, then power 2 and a quarter bars.. simples.. then its just about where you aim, that takes some practice to perfect. I would train for a while, it really is a powerful tool if you perfect it!! Corners too!!!
