Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

I'm getting some new thermal grease and white-spirit before I overclock. Need to make sure i've applied the grease properly. I think I put way too much on first time.

I understand F4 is the latest, the e was a beta BIOS.
I'm using the F4e BIOS myself, I'm not sure about the final release version, read a few things that were negative. Perhaps someone else can elaborate!

been struggling to get my fsb past 315, installed the f4 official.
Decided to whack it straight to 350 and...it's smooth as silk.
Not sure if i hit a wall or it's the new bios but it certainly worked for me.

much improvement in noise and temps? My jing ting Nb coller has arrived from the states today so ill get that fitted in the next few days hopefully it will give me a better OC

Having probs here. E6300/DS3/geil 6400 memory. I couldn't get above 315 x 7 without reboots, etc so I updated the bios to F4. Now I can't even get 300 x 7. I noticed in the bios that the "DDR18V" reading was showing FAIL in red and would show this at anything over a 0.4v increase in Vdimm. I'm not convinced its the bios update thats the problem, more psu related (enermax 485w jobbie). The system runs fine at stock btw, and using the X3 memory divider, I've got the memory running fine at 800mhz (DDR400 I suppose, 3 x 266) at 1.8v Vdimm. I'm gonna run two sets of prime95 f a few hours to see if the system is stable at stock. I also might see if the F4E bios is better.

Ok an update. Speedfan is showing the cpu temp as 19c idle. vcore1 reads 1.17v and Vcore2 reads 1.79v, whats all that about!
easy tune also displays very similar results and I get bsods, restarts at anything over stock values!
Yet, at stock the thing flies along getting great scores in various benchies. I'm beginning to wonder if me psu is the culprit here.

Vcore2 is your vdimm (ram) voltage. You should really be setting it to 2.1v (+0.3v). But your vcore1 is very low. The stock vcore is 1.325v. That's the minimum you should have if you're trying to overclock.

I reckon I'll have to try another bios or me psu is is undervolting. Saying that, the system wouldn't run right at stock with voltages like that, so I'm inclined to go with incorrect voltage reporting, which in turn points to bios readings.
It seems odd that anything above stock values is a no go for me as I can't even overclock to 300 from 266.
Its not me memory, thats currently at 800mhz (using the x 3 multi with 266) at stock volts.
Any assistance here would be appreciated, hows the f3 bios version working out?

Another update here. Total overclocking failure! I can't get the cpu up to 285 with all settings at stock. I reckon the bios settings shouldn't need adjusting to go that far, and setting the Vdimm to +.4v is a total no go, +.3v is the highest I can get, otherwise I get "DDR18V" (an option in the pc health section in the bios) showing "FAIL", so I can't even get the dimm voltage up to it's upper value of 2.3v-2.4v.
At stock the pc runs fine, and I know the memory is ok 'cos its currently running at 798mhz (DDR399) which is it's rated speed, set at 1.8v. I've also tried taking the load off the psu by replacing the 1900XT with a pci-e X300, but still no joy. I've also tried bioses f1, f3, and f4 and I still get the same results.
If I get no joy in the next coupla days then board is going back and I'll get an Asus or something.
Really hacked off here.
