Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Beginner - DS3 overclocking

This is the first time I have ocerclocked a cpu. I'm worried the voltages are too high. I haven't changed the voltage, it was set on normal.

So my RAM timings are 5 6 6 18. WTF does this actually mean?

Should I be concerned about voltage? Can I push my fsb higher? Is this the correct way to overclock?

i believe around 1.4 is the correct stock voltage, im not too sure about ram timings but you want them as low as possible without it crashing your pc

ive just set mine to 2.6 on stock volts atm, which is good enough for me :)

You can use the @BIOS utility on the CD supplied with the board, or flash using a bootable floppy. I've just used the @BIOS utility although I wouldnt do it with a clocked cpu just incase.
Just flash to the latest bios, the newer ones are better for clocking.

Just talking about voltages on this board and cpu here .
1.325v is the stock fdefault voltage for the E6300.

Mines not clocked right now.

Hi,

Memory timings if you press Ctrl-F1 together on the main bios menu then goto the page that adjusts the FSB, Voltages etc you will see it has unlocked the extra features in there.

Cheers,
Hugest

Do you think its safe to try higher fsb fequencies, considering my voltage of 1.4v @ 300fsb?

What should I go for next?
266
300 ok
333 ?
366 ?

I'd go straight for 400. If it doesn't boot, raise the voltage to 1.425v. Your RAM should be able to handle 4-4-4-12 at that speed using the 2.00 divider.

Im so scared to overlock in case it goes "poof" - ive only got the stock cooler aswell - and it runs fairly hot already due to wheres it kept also :(

Got 26,000 of in 3DMark 01 @ Stock

Conroe 6400
Gigabyte DS3
2x1GB Geil 6400 Ram
7600GT Extreme

mcdaniel, most of the conroes will do 2.8+ without increasing volts, so basically there will be a very small amount of extra heat compared to at stock

sorry bud i disagree, there is still a big temp increase as you increase fsb on these even without the voltage increase

If you was talking to me as if a i knew 0% about overclocking, bar what it actually is doing (running faster then stock)

with a 6400, DS3 and Dual Channel 2x1GB Geiol 6500 800Mhz Low LAtency ram...

What would suggest i overclock to?

Ram info...
