LMAO

Even gfx cards?

LOL  :D

:D

Well thats interesting, just worked out if i got the S3 motherboard, E6600, and the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC) (MY-034-GL) for £164.49, it comes to about £454

Yet if i get the better DS3, with the E6300 CPU instead, and get the better
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL) Ram at about £194, it only comes to about £445, so that looks like the way to go.

That would be the system to get but remember, you cannot run xfire on that mobo.

Yeah i just saw your post :D, dunno what the hell i was thinking about there, nevermind my x1800 XT will do for the Conroe rig.

Thanks. :)

Right well it only comes to £437.06 on here, so looks like these guys will be getting another order.

Just thought it will cost me next to nowt anyway, as i got rid of my 360 for £320, and ive got my A64 3500+, 2Gb of the Geil Value Ram, and my Asus A8R-MVP Crossfire mobo to get rid off. :D

Im guessing my PSU will be fine, as on looking at the pics of the mobo it doesn't have the 8x pin connector, just has the 24x pin, and the 4x pin for the CPU so hopefully my 20x pin with the 24x pin adapter that im using now should be fine on it as well.

hiya all.

just turned this thing on now and am trying to find the max my cpu will run at. most so far is 4gig but i think it has more.

one thing that strikes me as being different on this mobo is the numbering for the multipliers for ram/fsb. on my old mobos it was clear

e.g 1:1 2:3 etc but this gigabyte mobo (DS3) 2.66, 2.5, 3.0 etc. they dont make sense really

i've googled but only found a list but no explanation

anyone know what they are?

Just multiply your fsb by the multiplier to get your RAM speed eg- A 400Mhz fsb on the 2.0 multiplier will run your RAM at 800Mhz (pc6400 speed).

ah cool. got it now

am having probs pushing past 200fsb. all stable to that point but just going from 200 to 201 and it wont boot like that.

bumped vcore up a notch, chipset voltage etc and no joy. dropped the ram to the lowest multi and the same.

is there a way to drop the cpu multi on the DS3? cant see any option for this.

odd, i dont have that option under intelli tweaker, even after ctrl+F1

i have cpu host freq (mhz) but no multi

stock cooler is ...ok my E6600 is @ 50 oC according to core temp which is supposed to be quite accurate
it only went up to 59 oC when i pushed the cpu to 3 GHZ :D easy overclock too
(these are idle temps)
so it does the job not too loud, but then that is subjective to each person :D
as to your psu i am using an antec 550 watt tru control20 pin with an adapter and it is running 3 hdd
2x120mm fans
his x1900 xtx
2 optical drives
assorted usb
8 ch sound card(just dont like the onboard on this mobo)
and will be adding another 3 x120mm fans when i put my w/c back on probally just before xmas.running fine at the moment though :)

Will my PSU be fine, also is the stock cooler any good for overclocking, i hope its not to loud to. :p

Get an after market cooler.

If clocking 59c idle is to hot.

And idle temps mean nothing its the load temp that counts

Cheers thanks for that. :)

What quiet cooler would you recommend then easy, one of those AC ones, ive got the Freezer 64 pro one on my 3500+ and its a cracking cooler, only have it running at 1500rpms and my 3500 idles at about 40, and its very quiet. :)

AC for a cheapish cooler,

Scythe ninja for great cooling.

I had a zalman 9500 on mine before I went water and it did the job just fine.

The stock cooler is pap lol avoid!

Remember you will be getting around 1.2ghz of speed for free so its important to spend that bit extra on a nice cooler.Thats the least you could do for this awsome little chip. :D

This the one you mean, taken from the full specs, sounds like it will be quiet to at about 20dba. :)

does anyone know if the CPU Clock Ratio option isnt there on some bioses?

its not there on mine fsr

i have cpu host freq but no multi for the cpu
