bit of an odd question, but I got my gtx 1070 and I decided to rinstall the game, and I would like to run it on 120hz, and I lowered details and so I was hitting like 100-160fps and it was mega choppy ? so i have turned on vsync and it can do the solid 120 fps but every now and then its still choppy...any ideas ?

Have you set the refresh rate in game to 120hz? There's a seperate slider in the menu for that, it's helped with my stutter (but mine wasn't really 'choppy')

Yes, the game is seto to 120hz and my monitor is set to 120hz...and during the chopping no dips seems to be occuring on fps or cpu usage...

I think GTA has problems with frametime, try monitoring that rather than FPS

I also get the same problem that without vsync no matter what FPS or even frametime it feels worse than 30fps.

I shall have a look, Is there any setting I can tweak to get around this ?

Check your ram usage too, I used to run out of ram when running high frame rates in GTA, I never found a solution for it my self but since I run 4K now I don't have the problem of high frame rates any more :)

Yeah, just for msaa, dont use any of the effects. Sweet aa is the only way i can use ultra settings while keeping 60 fps, if i use ingame aa i lose about 20 fps.

I installed this again about a month ago but I could not get it to run properly in terms of full screen 4k.

Everytime I put it in 4k, and went full screen it crashed. I used to run it that way as well.

The social club also crashed a lot when it was downloading so something on my pc has upset it. Maybe its because I abandoned it :)

Hmm yeah cant say thats ever happened to me, check its on 16:9 and not auto as auto can cause problems.

If ya have a fast net connection i would just redownload it, takes an hour or two on mine so i dont mind just reinstalling it when i need to move it or summat. I used to keep backups but i dont have drive space anymore with games been so damn big nowadays.

Ram never gets over 10gb, I have 16 gb, and still lags every now and then...I might revert to medium settings ? any good guide on the settings ?

Regardless of the windowed state it crashes. Cant run it past 1080p and I refuse to do that lol

Will have a go tomorrow with all other monitors turned off.

gpu-z check the texture usage on the card. gta wont let me off absolute min because i have 1gb and it barely fits, actually last check it also used 200 meg of main memory as overflow along with disk use that wrecks frames

I dont have a texture usage on gpu-z....and I am not sure I understand what you mean ?

I would guess he means video memory but that wouldnt be a problem using a 1070, that was the 970 which sometimes had that problem.

Is the game loaded onto an SSD? I havent used a HDD in years but maybe they suffer from lag loading large textures i dunno.

What sort of monitor are you using btw?, i assume its not g-sync if your using vsync ingame.

So I have been having stutter where there no stutter until my rebuild but just found out we can not stop windows updating to the latest version of Nvidia display drivers if you are on Win 10 Home.......

I am ******* livid....

I don't want to install drivers that have not been written for my card.... I can still prevent GFE updating however......

This is the answer
