A friendly modder randomly dropped about $7m on me last night - happened in a couple of seconds which was most odd. Seemed to be giving me the CEO bodyguard bonus but instead of $5000, it was $50,000 at a time.

Guess who risked his account for a rocket Voltic? :p
 
Everyone check your emails quickly, i just got an email saying someone has requested my rockstar social club email to be changed, it said if i did not request it to click the recover button, i checked it was a genuine email then clicked it and recovered my account, my name has been changed to Deranged summat and my country has changed to Russia. I opened the game to check nothing has been deleted but it all seems the same with the exception of my bank balance which has gone from 50mil to 950 mil. Dirty russian hackers making my account look dodgey so im gonna have to get onto rockstar and ask them to sort it out.

I have no idea how they do this. So many people are hacked and the first they know is an email request however when they log in all the details are changed and the account has been damaged. I am sure you are going to be banned mate sorry to say. They mod the crap out the accounts as it is throw away.
Only way I can think is if they hacked your SC account, loaded the account with money, then sold it on. The new "owner" goes to change email and that is when you are flagged. However always seems to be Russian accounts. Out of interest, did you buy via R* and not via steam?

I've been trying to do my own, I have got as far as getting the server up, Getting some friends on the server, But I have no clue on how to get mods into it. Some of it goes way over my head. Especially json/couchDB.

I've been trying to get essentials 3.0.0 on it but its hard when the guide is wrong/out of date :|
 
Been online tonight and got money bags thrown on me by a cheater which gave about 2m

I've read rockstar now take it off you once the automated checks pick it up but also plenty of people saying these checks never happen and they got to keep it

Has anyone had this happen to them recently and nothing happened?

It would be nice to blow the money without penalty even though I didn't earn it :D

My friend and I unwillingly received some money during the same session. He proceeded to spend it immediately and was subsequently banned the next day, whereas I left the money untouched for a couple of weeks, and it was never withdrawn by Rockstar. I eventually spent it with no repercussions.

Urgh.

Finished GTA V SP mode for the first time since I got the PC version ages ago after initially completing it on the PS3 years ago. Forgot how boring all the characters are bar Trevor. Still can't bring myself to really LIKE the single player game vs GTA IV. Absolutely excellent world building technically but damn the plot is dire. It also felt a lot shorter than I remember it despite me doing all the Strangers and Freaks missions too.

In GTA IV I had lots of things to do but at the end of V there is practically little left. I thought I'd try and buy some cars with the $2.1 billion that each char had and then remembered why I stopped playing SP on the PS3. Bought a Progen T20 with Franklin and went out to customise it but sadly died on the way. The car wasn't in my garage, or in the impound lot, or at the spot where I died. Well that's 2.2mill instantly lost and I recalled how car saving was an issue upon release. Can't believe it still is given that MP has the vehicle insurance feature.

Played a bit of MP for a few hours today. Still the same issues as before - long loading screens, modders, players begging for money etc. Rockstar seem to have removed the ability to start a solo MP session? I can't seem to see it in the menus anymore or am I looking in the wrong place now?

It's sad that they're committed to milking the Multiplayer players/experience for shark cards and can't bring any of that to SP after so many years. I have little hopes for the next generation of Rockstar games after seeing how things are now.0

I had 80m dropped on me the other week, nothing has ever come of it, I never banked it but it's been in my 'pocket'. It wasn't physical items being dropped either, the modder was giving me a CEO protection bonus of 50k at a time.

If you go to single player, then pick start invite only session for multiplayer, you'll be in a server by yourself - though you won't be able to launch a lot of the jobs or do many events in solo mode.

I joined another server later on and had the 50k straight into my pocket, got to 30m before before I had noticed and quit. I'm hoping cashbags then ceo payments in the same night don't screw me over but won't hold my breath with rockstar

It's typical, this is the first time I've ever had money dumped on me and it's the same day I buy an office so probably looks like I cheated

I honestly don't think R*'s detection method is that advanced, I'm starting to wonder if it links number of hours played against how much money you have. Or it's just looking at your in game bank currency.

Being totally honest, I must have had upwards of $140m dropped on me in game but never been banned.

Ah OK so it was a R* account. I recon it is a R* bought Social club issue with hacked accounts. You would not be able to use a steam purchased account as it needs steam to run.

Hope it is OK still? not banned?
 
i've not played GTA online yet but looking to start it soon

kind of worried now.. im not a cheater in anyway but yet it sounds like i can be minding my own business playing the game
some hacker can drop money on me without me doing anything and then i can potentially get banned?

what else can these people do to you?
