***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Well, TBH it is pretty light on everything.
Finished all the new drug wars content in a couple of hours. As suspected it is just a load of contact missions with cut scenes. There is other stuff coming but that is via drip feed so meh all around really.
Playing High on Life now which says a lot.

Not checked it out yet but that pretty much sums up the consensus on social media.

The "next gen" version of GTA5 launches on March 15th with lots of improvements -

-Faster loading times.
-Increased population and traffic variety.
-Increased vegetation density.
-Improved lighting quality across shadows.
-Water reflections, and other elements.
-Improved anti-aliasing.
-Motion-blur.
-Highly detailed new explosions, fire, and much more.
-Haptic Feedback and dynamic resistance on PS5 controller.
-Tempest 3D positional audio.

Ray tracing will also be added, What type of RT is as of yet unknown but I'd hazard a guess and say reflections, Shadows and maybe RTGI, Right now it is unclear which of the above if any will be making it to PC, Maybe also DLSS and/or FSR if it does ? The Rockstar article only speaks of Xbox Series S/X and PS5 but I'm hoping PC gets this update around the same time.

Ray tracing was added, but for consoles only

It's like Rockstar just don't give a crap about PCs. "Here have RT on consoles, which you need to be running in a mode that gives 30fps lol".

Visual Updates
  • Ray-traced reflections have been added to Fidelity Mode for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, adding detail and contrast to the game world. This allows for vehicles, characters, and more details to be shown on reflective and glossy surfaces

They gave up on PC years ago.
Expanded & Enhance was coming to PC when it was announced, however, it has never been released. A lot of the files are in the game just never enabled. I thought they would have added it this DLC and introduced GTA+ but it is clear they can't be bothered. What with the hack, the removal of most of the anti-cheat (not sure if that has been reinstated) and no E&E, R* have defo given up.

Reactions: mrk
Just started my first playthrough of GTAv using the newly publicly released Naturalvision Evolved BETA. Holy crap it looks amazing (my RTX3090 really struggles at 4k high settings) and the game is really fun. I'll go through the very well written and voice acted story then start RDR2 in earnest. :)

Why lie to yourself
Well... he did say 'might'. :D

Has anyone tried the LSPDFR mod?

I've managed to get it working and go out on patrol but whenever I get a call, by the time I'm approaching the are in which the disturbance is, it vanishes from my radar and I've got no way to know where to go?

Also, if I inadvertently bump into any other vehicles, the driver gets out and turns into a raging homicidal manic and tries to kill me!?!?!

Any tips from anyone who's tried it??

I think there are loads of forums for that mod. It is very popular. However, I have never been inclined to use it.

So.
Looks like there are major issues now with GTAO and all sorts of shenanigans with mod menus.
There is loads of stuff on Twitter and on the GTA forum about mod menus now being able to brick your account and all other nasty things. Being in an invite-only session is not an option either. (I was pulled out of an invite-only session ages ago).
Lots of advice to use a script called guardian that adds firewall rules, however the guy who has compiled it has removed it from GitHub because of all of the above and does not want people to lose their accounts because they have not applied it correctly.
So I am taking a break from the GTA (taking a break from all games at the moment TBH) However if you wish to have a look at what is being said,
GTA Forums
This is why we can't have nice things.

Hey guys, so what's the best way to get this game looking realistic these days?

I looked for some guides and they seem to point to NVE, OPENIV, VISUALV and QUANTV.

I have OpenIV insalled along with scripthookv. Next I installed VisualV. Now I'm looking at NVE and QUANTV but they just seem to point to patreon pages? Do the mods cost money now? I looked for an opinion on QUANTV but apparently it has a virus so it isn't worth trying to grab....

So yeah, where do I go for here?

Edit, so got the free beta of nve from razers site.
Also grabbed forests of sa.
Updated my heap file and game config file for more vehicles/peds.

Now I'm just looking for an enbe mod similar to quantv if anyone knows of one?

Just installed NVE aswell I dont think enb is needed anymore with this mod,
by the way could someone suggest me a good police mod to make them harder?

I really want to reinstall this again as never fully completed it, I have no idea what the mod scene is like for this today, is there an all in one that basically changes the textures and GFX and cars etc or is it still faffy :/

Edit*
Just got NVE beta too, 7.1GB, that's considerably big. Time to reinstall the game then!

I got bored of setting it up and trying different mods, moved onto other games as I completed GTA V and it was more curiosity. It is a huge faff and some of the better stuff appears to be paid which is a bit annoying.

Well that was a waste of time. OpenIV cannot be installed because it needs an online connection to download necessary files. The Openiv servers for the .com are offline but the .org where you download the installer is online hence the issue. Cannot install NVE without OpenIV.

@mrk did you give up in the end?

VisualV imo looks more realistic than any of the NVE's, QuantV's or Redux's (Redux is a bit more than a visual overhaul) out there and the performance is optimised to be better than stock which is significant considering how mods can wreck your frames.

Most mods these days come with an installer package to save copying and replacing files etc. I've managed to get VisualV working for GTA Online which is amazing as I prefer the more interactive/random world of Online over SP
