Reference cards

As many of you know already the reference card will use a shorter pcb, as seen on this POV card.

It's my opinion that all OC cards will probably use the GTX 680 pcb, there might be a few with the shorter pcb using non-reference coolers but I doubt they will be pre-overclocked. But you never know.

Prices

Obviously no confirmed prices yet. But as Gibbo has said they'll be over £300. I've seen a few Euro prices & UK ones, so I expect some retailer at launch to have the Gigabyte Windforce 3X OC at £370 top price. Between £340 to £370 at launch for OC'd cards. Reference cards I think will be £310 at minimum, Palit, POV cards etc. I'd be shocked if there was any under £300 at launch, but it would be crushing for ATI and a superb move from Nvidia. As usual expect prices to flatten after a couple of weeks, and maybe we'll see something under £300 then.

The reference card start at 915mhz and boosts up to 980mhz. That Gigabyte card starts at 980mhz, then overclock that a bit and the boost on top.

So that guy adding 100mhz onto his core taking it to 1080mhz and then the boost has taken it even further.

Would be nice to know from Gibbo when the NDA ends, if he can put them up straight away at 00:01 on Thursday morning.

Then we can be disappointed by inflated prices before we go to sleep and not when we wake up to start the day. ;)

The above was a joke, don't hurt me sales and purchasing team.

The MSI GTX670 OC will have a core clock of 965mhz / boost: 1045mhz

Looking at the picture and the other pictures of the MSI card that are around, it does look like this one is a reference pcb & cooler. I'm guessing MSI will release a more overclocked non reference card as well.

Will give my 670 to Martyr today so he can do some benchmarks for you guys in SLI. If you have any other unique tests you want run let him know now as he will probably only have the card for a few hours.

ETA for benchmarks will be around 8hrs from now!

Did some one say overclock boost?

As we know Core @ stock (Gigabyte OC) 980mhz boosted to 1060mhz

dDndT.jpg

Extra 100mhz on the core boosts up to 1301mhz

UQG6k.jpg

Extra 120mhz on the core boosts up to 1401mhz

s6msm.jpg

Overclocking beyond 1100mhz was apparently unstable, without increasing voltage.

Given the guys on OCN and that Chinese guy have managed to clock to and over 1.1ghz core, these could be very interesting indeed.

Re the PCBs, the Gigabyte Windforce 3X uses Gigabytes own GTX 680 pcb, so as long as chips etc are still in the same place you should be able to fit 680 blocks on there. EK will probably update his to say the 670s are compatible any way.
