We feel NVIDIA deserves big praise for the GTX 580! It has impressed us with its incredible gameplay and exceeded all of our expectations in terms of cooling and sound. It provides a better gameplay experience than the GeForce GTX 480, uses less power, and runs cooler. All of this adds up to the fact that we feel the GeForce GTX 580 earns our Gold [H] Editor's Choice award.

bit-tech.
Nevertheless, the GTX 580 1.5GB is a seriously impressive card that justifies its price. It offers great performance that’s a meaningful step up from the previous generation, plus a cooler you can live with and none of the drawbacks of a multi-GPU setup. Our credit cards are ready; it’s up to ATI to show us its hand so we can decide which card to buy.

Raven change the name of the thread to official gtx580 fastest gpu in the world flame bait thread. Why kick of a thread with a sentence thats gonna make people come in and do the whole nv/amd arguement. I don't remember any official thread opening with the fastest this or the fastest this the thread can only go one way.

Is it not the fastest GPU on the planet? did I make that bit up? Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill, now settle down.

Here my 580 oc with 1.138v and fan to 80%:

Great results, what temps are you getting with 80% fan and that overclock.

Please you're derailing the thread, if you have noting constructive to add then don't post, every review site will describe it as the fastest GPU on the planet. This thread is about the 580 not about you how some members don't like the fact the 580 is the fastest GPU on the planet.

Vantage with 870 core GTX480, I cant believe what the 580 gets in Vantage.

Anandtech has it spot on IMO.

If you have a board capable of supporting a pair of 6870s and don’t mind the extra power it’s hard to go wrong, but only if you’re willing to put up with the limitations of a multi-GPU setup. It’s a very personal choice – we’d be willing to trade the performance for the simplicity of avoiding a multi-GPU setup, but we can’t speak for everyone.

Yeah the Palit is just as good as an EVGA in hardware terms because all 580's are all reference currently. If your Q6600 is at or over 3Ghz it should limit the bottleneck somewhat.

HardOCP Gold award.

Considering the 580 is knocking on the 5970's door performance wise, and AMD position the 6970 behind the 5970 in speed, I would say it will be very close between a 580 and 6970.
