****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

Because I'm happy with my IPS panel monitor and the games I play are demanding enough with max IQ to not even give me 60 FPS average in the majority of them. The majority of review sites bench 1680, I can game at 1080p on my LCD TV, I lose a few FPS, it's not exactly a massive step up in res from my current one.

Don't we have any results in 1080? as I'm sure most people game in 1080 or higher? -_-

Actually 1680x1050 is the most common res according to the steam survey.

Yeah It would do it easily :P but for now I'm back to stock speeds to keep things simple. Some more benchies for everyone :D

OK got some 1080p results done, added Dirt 2 and crysis results.
480@850 core/2000 mem

My 480 at 850 core is as fast as 580 at 778 core and do you not think it right to compare the 480 to a 580? is it not relevant some how, think on.

A wall of 480 benchmarks in a 580 benchmark thread and what point are you making?

oh yeah..

Raven see my latest results in the 580 thread, any chance you could bench your 480 at the same settings?

Off the high horse.

Drivers 261.00, it's a 247 overclock with 1.075v, max temps 80c with custom fan that hits 70% max. The stock 580 is also clocked 11% higher than a stock 480, we need some more 580 overclocked benchmarks. For me I see no point going to a 580 so I'll skip the 5** series.

I suppose I should test real games to see if this is still the case. Right now I'm back running everything at stock. If anything the much much quieter fans on the 580's have me smiling.

Bench some more games with overclock on. You should know you gain big with fermi when clocked, saying that stock 580 SLI will kill most games out there, overclocking is only for benchmarking purposes IMO with 580 SLI.

Well a CPU does not have the limitations a dual GPU can have, microstutter, dodgy xfire/SLI scaling, games needing profiles, driver problems that are not there with a single GPU. So I would treat a single GPU in a different category to a dual GPU because of the mentioned draw backs. Personally I doubt we will ever see a dual GPU from Nvidia again, they will just let people go SLI with cards of their choice, I mean if you can afford a high end dual GPU, you are certainly going to have the mobo and PSU to do SLI.

inconsistent? I get very accurate results when I run heaven, just because it pushes the GPU and not CPU does not mean it's inconsistent lol. It's all about the GPU and tessellation performance, there is little for the CPU to do, go look at your CPU usage in the vantage GPU tests, it's down there with heaven. Benchmarking for years...:o looks it.
