You say one of the advantages of a multi system is that you don't have to swap wieghts round but don't you have swap weights around on that multigym?
no i said one of the advantages is you dont need to swap weights in between sets when training with a partner.
for example i am roughly 5'10 and i have a mate who is 5 foot 6. he came round to train with me once on my power rack.
on the bench press i like to stick the spotter bars on 8 and the pins on 12. he is smaller and needs the spotter bars on 7 and the pins on 10. therefore the whole rig needs to be changed around, and the weights taken off and put back on again.
yet if we use the multigym (what he has at his house), we no longer need to change the full setup, only the weights involved, takes 20 seconds to do. but changing the full rig on a power rack would take 2 minutes or so every set.
therefore if your going to be training alone the power rack is the best option, if your going to be training with a partner, the multigym is the best option.
this is exactly what i posted below
Why not a power rack?
If you and your training partner do not have the same height, weight and build then you will find yourself constantly changing the catchers (spotters), weights, bar position, etc every set. This is extremely tedious and can become detrimental to your focus having to change the whole setup after one of you has completed a set. If you don’t mind all of this then get a power rack, but it’s the equivalent of having to change a tyre on a car after every mile.
Why a multi system?
It allows you to do a lot of exercises safely; not the same amount as a power rack but near enough the same amount. You do not have to change the setup of anything to accommodate people of different heights or weights, it also allows beginners and advanced user’s to do a workout together with next to no interruptions. It is also safe and comes with safety bars which you pull in and out in order to catch the weight.
