What are the heaviest adjustable dumbbells that you can get?

Ordered two more 25kg plates, partly for shrug/deadlift progression, partly to weigh the squat rack down. That puts me up to 267.5kg in plates, I think I’m good for a while :p

I have 3 options really when it comes to the delay on the bench.

1) Continue floor press and wait for it.
2) Buy a cheap bench (https://mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-m1-flat-weight-bench.html) to tie me over.
3) Cancel and order a different bench, without leg accessories eg. https://www.bulldoggear.eu/collections/bench/products/bulldog-gear-flat-pack-bench

I've sent a request to cancel my order. I found some reviews on the US Ironmaster website that confirmed what I thought 1) It's not a great incline bench 2) the pad is a little narrow.

Once I've got confirmation I think I'm going to buy the adjustable bench from Bulldog gear - https://www.bulldoggear.eu/collections/bench/products/adjustable-bench-3

The bench gets really good reviews on Rep fitness which sell the same bench - https://www.repfitness.com/strength-equipment/strength-training/benches/rep-ab-5000

I think I'm gonna get that bench also, plus the leg attachment, as soon as my garage is ready to start adding equipment to it (got a bit more painting to do and rubber mats to get down first)... But a bench will by far help expand the range of things I can do more than anything else right now

For you people who have your gyms in your garage's/shed's, how big spaces do you have your equipment within?

3x2m for me. 3x3 would have been preferable as a minimum, but don’t have the space with the current setup. It’s enough for a rack, bench and deadlift platform with land mine in the corner. Don’t need anything else.

Mine is 16 1/2 feet long x 8 feet wide - I have all I need in that space - rack, dumbbells, bench and other stuff - the trick for me is getting as much stuff (bars, handles etc) off the floor.

Could easily fill twice that space though !

Sold some bits, bought some bits. The old rack was OK, but it had a few issues. I didn't like the bar hooks and the entire thing was quite large with the plate storage. It meant I couldn't freely walk between/behind it as it effectively had sides. I also sold the bench, I have an Ironmaster Superbench Pro coming at the end of the month with the leg extension/curl. Carpet and blinds are planned and a dehumidifier for when we get into the colder months.

With having all the weight stored against one wall it has freed up everything from the sides meaning it's easy to move around and accessing weights is easier. I was going to put the 42.5s on the DB rack but I used them to place my feet on for seated rows :D

The rack is a beast. I plan to buy the dip bar for it.

Where is that mirror from mate, gym looks great

Ah! Of course there's a thread for this, was just about to make one of my own

Like many others the wife and I have decided to tidy up the garage and convert the back 2/3rds of it into a home gym. Early days in the planning yet and I already know what I want equipment-wise (when it someday comes back in stock; kind of thinking I might aim for Black Friday sales at this rate! Or if there's an influx of people selling the stuff they bought when lockdown started once gyms open I may look around)...

Anyway what I am wondering about and maybe people will have experience with is this; the first thing I want to do is get the space setup a bit, and try and take the edge off of the temperature swings in there - intending to:
  • Insulate the door of the garage, probably just use adhesive foam to glue some celotex panels onto it
  • Get some horse stall mats / gym mats and fit them down on the floor
  • Get some acrylic mirror panels for some of the walls
  • Possibly buy a small portable heater and a chrome fan
What I'm wondering about though is that the garage door has some vents in it - how important is it that I leave those uncovered? By and large the garage isn't particularly drafty - it's only ~5 years old, pitched roof in good condition, not excessive gaps around the edges or bottom of the door. So I'm a bit worried that if I take away the ventilation in the door I might turn it into a condensation hotbox? Particularly as there's also a tumble-dryer in there. Can anyone comment if my concern is unfounded? I could cut the Celotex in a way that doesn't block up the vents if so (and follow up question - if I do that will it defeat the point of trying to insulate the door altogether?

Any other tips or advice? Equipment-wise if anyone cares I already know I'm intending to go with a cage, bench, lat/cable machine and a spin bike for cardio. Won't need anything more than that... Cheers in advance!

I'm in the process of doing the same will post some pics later. I sealed the gaps on the garage door with foam and will be putting up a stud wall with insulation in front of it. For airflow I'm going to fit an extractor fan linked to my lights and will wall mount a fan. As I'm in a detached house might has a AC unit if next summer is like this one!!

Snap! I've not thought too much about airflow but I figured I would mount a big fan up in the rafters to circulate the air and just see what it's like for a season or two, possibly supplementing it with a portable radiator for the winter and a portable AC for the summer if it needs it... I would have gone the stud wall route but still need access via that door so not really an option; the insulation I put on the door does seem to have made a big difference though

Thanks was going to get a perspex sheet but they are slot more than I had imagined!

Exactly the same as me as well - I priced up a 1 x 2m acrylic mirror on a bunch of sites and the best I could find was still like £150, madness... that Ikea mirror LiE posted above is perfect though, just got to be careful not to smash it!!!

My painting is still coming along too, as tedious as it is. Sadly the brick is just as painful to paint as the breeze blocks but for a different reason. Not sure what to call it exactly but the bricks on the inside look like a whole bunch of little "fins" perhaps 7mm wide with similar width gaps inbetween. My big 4" masonry brush struggles to get the paint right down into the gaps so I'm having to slap the paint on broadly with it first and then switch to a smaller brush to push it into the gaps. At this point I have painted halfway down the side walls and it's already feeling bigger and cleaner in there but still a way to go. Should have my lights up soon which will help with the feel in there too

If I was painting brick I'd probably look at some sort of spray applicator.

If I had the foresight to have painted the garage when we first moved in and it was empty I would have done just that, but from what I can tell the biggest drawback to using a sprayer is that it's hard not to end up getting paint on other stuff as well. I guess I could move everything out of the garage first but there's quite a lot of stuff in there even with my efforts to get rid of what I could, so I think I'm a bit stuck

It's tedious but doesn't take that long, just tackling it a bit at a time so I don't lose the will to live

Was a massive paint painting it, I just left it with two coats of white as anything would have looked better. Painting the floor is much easier!
