the new release of google toolbar is starting to randomly say sites are offline or are a mistyped url yet if i disable google toolbar its fine?

if u ask me this smells of bot net dos attack or something similar

i think i read on the register a while back that they do this until the website/company pays them large amounts of cash to stop.

must be some good bot net as ocuk probably runs off a server with a gigabit connection to the net

A gbit connection aint a huge amount. And who knows what connection some of the bot net could be, nothing stopping them being 100Mbit, or also 1Gbit...

Yeh been down for half an hour or so (not really keeping track) here again - forum and shop. I thought they operated off of different servers - which means that it's more likely to be DOS as otherwise why would it affect both servers? That must suck if it is .

Given that any organisation would have had this sorted by now, there is obviously more to this than meets the eye. I will wait patiently for the shop to return.

You don't seriously think that any of this would be happening if there's anything they could avoid it do you? A company's website down for long periods of time during the current economic climate? I think not.

I could be wrong, but to me it has all the hallmarks of a fairly substantial and well planned DDOS attack.

Whether it's directed at the company or whether it's directed at the hosts, who knows. None of our business really, and as I've said I could be wrong
