Official Indycar Thread

We go again tonight (note tonight not tomorrow!) with the Indy road course then it'll be on to the big race in 2 weeks time.

Palou on pole again so expect another cakewalk!

Finally got a caution after 408 laps and nearly 4 races without one!

Didn’t change anything though as Palou just drove off again into the distance!

The 500 next he’s never actually won on an oval so someone else might get a chance!

It's amazing how the coverage seemingly managed to miss everything of note in the race. Pato O'Ward went from 8th to 2nd and non of what happened in the pitstops was shown.

I personally think the coverage has got worse since Fox took over; at least on NBC it was consistent.
Fox seem to be trying to dumb it down (constant explaining things for the "new" viewers) a bit like Sky sometimes do for the F1 and its a bit naff at times.
I've never been a big fan of Will Buxton and at times he seems to come across like he's barely watched an Indycar race before (even though he worked on Indy-car before).
That said I don't think any of the races have been particularly exciting this year; could do with Palou being taken out at turn 1 for the next few races.

Bump day and pole quali on from 9pm.

Seems to have been a lot of bad shunts in practice this year, few lucky escapes from Herta and Kiffin Simpson in particular.

Wow rookie pole not just for Robert Schwartzman but also Prema, that's some result! They won't like the Europeans coming over and beating them! First time in 43 years a rookie has taken pole.
Sato 2nd on the grid as well - tremendous.

Penske were probably happy with the rookie story to help brush the fact they were on the cheat again under the carpet ;)

Newgarden and Power relegated to 31st and 32nd on the grid. Though if you're Jacob Abel and bumped from the race I'd be rather peeved that 2 cars which were basically illegal have just been allowed to race in front of you.

Given Penske have form I'd have thrown them out of the race completely for another violation.
Still as they own Indycar its unlikely, its as corrupt as if Ferrari owned Formula 1.
