Official Indycar Thread

It's been confirmed that Will Power and Team Penske have gone their separate ways. Not a huge surprise. I guess there will be an announcement of David Malukas signing for Penske in the next day or so.

The video that Penske posted is odd, it's more like an obituary then a "so long and thanks for everything" video.

Seems to be a fair bit of movement; rumours about either Colton Herta leaving Andretti (for F2) and even Marcus Ericsson possibly under threat, especially now that Power is available.
Seems Grosjean is top of the list for Dale Coyne as Veekay is moving on.

More news from the world of Indycar.

Colton Herta is off to Cadillac as test driver. Seems an odd decision to me, I thought he'd be better placed staying at a leading Indycar team in a race seat than test driver for an F1 team at the arse end of the grid.

Will Power will replace Colton Herta at Andretti.

Herta expected to join the F2 grid next season as well to try and get those super license points he needs for F1.

In other news the venue for the Toronto round is moving; its been in downtown Toronto since 1986 but was going to need to move next year due to the World Cup anyway, its moving to Markham for the next 5 years; still a temporary street track though!

Herta has never looked a particularly good prospect to me and Andretti seem to be perennial under achievers.

I think Herta has at times looked very good, not so 2025 though.

Hard to argue with that, Andretti haven't won an Indy title since 2012 although there's been a few Indy 500 wins, Herta was fairly anonymous for most of this season.

Wow, I hadn't realised it had been that long. They're definitely top team potential but evidently some way off.

Callum Ilott during an interview: "There's a reason I was a racing driver and it wasn't because I was amazing to start with. It was because I was sh-t at everything else."

Below is the complete interview:

First Indycar race of 2026 this weekend; changed this into a more generic Indycar thread; don't feel we need a new one for the new season!
Calendar for the season is below!

Ooh nice we get back to back to back to start with! None at that bloody Thermal place either!

Still running at that dump of a road course in Detroit after Indy though which makes the series look cheap.

Most of the Street tracks are grim; racing around Washington DC should be a laugh!
