**** Official Infamous: Second Son ****

I actually realised I had £34.50 sat on my clubcard and then I used the £10 off tesco direct coupon so I've only paid £5.50 for it. :D
 
Watched a couple of Twitch streams and it looks very nice but the gameplay is a carbon copy of the previous games. I'd hoped it would be mixed up at least a bit but aside from a couple of new powers it's largely just a shinier version.

I will probably still pick it up as my PS4 needs something to do but feel a bit disappointed that so far next-gen for PS4 has only translated to graphics. Once the initial wow factor has gone I think it'll get repetitive pretty quick.
 
What were you hoping next gen would bring in terms of controls then using the same kind of control method from the last 20 years? What did the PS2 bring that the PSX didn't in terms of controls with the same controller?

You're going to be disappointed in this gen if you are expecting more than just better graphics.
 
I don't understand all this disappointment at next gen consoles. What were you all expecting other than a better online infrastructure & visuals?
 
I believe igns review is due today, i never usually base a purchase on reviews but something feels off about this game to me atm. Im getting a vibe that its all graphics and not much else but i want to be wrong so ill keep an eye out for the reviews

I think you are worried over nothing, its not like the last 2 Infamous' didnt review well. Like every franchise if you liked the previous games, youll likely enjoy the latest one; if you didnt, you wont...

True, i loved 1, but didnt enjoy aspects of 2. Like the characters were awful and the story didnt click with me but if they have focused more on that then it should be fine
 
You wont like Delsin, I dont like Delsin - hes a dudebro, but its a concious attempt by SP to ensure players have fun with the powers, rather them being a means to an end. The story, well the subtitle hints at that I guess...

Hated Nix from I2, loved Zeke - didnt like Coles new voice...

We share similar thoughts but i hated zeke with a passion! Yea delsin looks like a nob lol
 
Yeah, I found with the previous games I really enjoyed the first 5 hours but after that the weak story and repetitive nature dragged the experience down a bit. I still finished them but it felt like doing the side missions was padding rather than fun. I know some people love this series and others are a bit too defensive because the PS4 could use any decent games it can get right now but I'm still disappointed.

As for next gen being only about better graphics, I am looking for better AI (friends/foes/bystanders), more complex open worlds, etc. The Twitch streams so far suggest the same simplistic AI with nigh-on perfect aim but near-zero intelligence. I'd rather see fewer enemies that actually employ some tactics rather than just a swarm of dummies.

As I said before, I'll probably still get it and think it'll be decent fun but I had just hoped for more based on what I've seen.
 
We're still in the launch window, that means last gen games with better graphics, always has done.

Or maybe lot, can't seem to order it on the US store with a UK account.. thats a bummer
