***Official Intel Haswell Thread***

IB-E according to the very well informed 8 pack will be soldered.

I think wazza hit the nail on the head about intentionally crippling performance.

I can certainly see your point and I was searching for where I read about the trigate problem, but I can't find it anymore.
They certainly need to differentiate their ranges and each new generation must have an advantage over the previous one.

Yaha... Ma papa says life is like buyin CPU's, ya never know whatcha gonna git :)

5Ghz on a Asus Hero Rog with my Kraken X60 and I am sold :D

The Hero looks great. Got mine in today!!! Not had chance to try it yet though.

Yes, yes I do :p

It's tempting to move to haswell, but I think I'll wait a few more months to see what ivy e brings to the table.

Are asus doing the combo water/air mosfet coolers on their top rog board like they did with the mv?

Ah I'm so tempted. Do you think my i7 920 @ 3.2ghz is holding my GTX 780 back at 2560x1440?

From my few days with the card, I don't think so, performance is a lot better than my GTX 680, but I was just wondering what the general consensus was

My upgrade to haswell (4770k, board, 16gb ram, cooler) will probs be £600 max. After selling my i7 920, p6t deluxe, and 6gb ram, it should reduce that figure

So my main question is, will I see a significant difference in gaming? Some people say the old CPU's are still fine, and the GPU is what matters

Dual channel or quad? I'm looking at dual channel 16gb Crucial Ballistix tactical 1600hmz for my build if dual channel is recommended for a haswell OC?

Its a dual channel controller.

But a quad channel kit will work, it will just be two sets of RAM per channel.

Hi, your 920 at just 3.2ghz is just ticking over, OC it to at least 3.8ghz or upto 4.2ghz if your cooling's ok and you should see a nice performance boost.

Mine's at 4.2ghz, thinking of a 2nd PC or just upgrade my Toxic 6950 to a 770 or 780.

What a dilemma.

It's not stable over 3.2ghz, it's a really poor chip :D (c0/c1 stepping)
