Just wondering, is it confirmed broadwell will be a new socket and will require new mobo? That would suck, as I would likely upgrade to broadwell also but keep same setup.
Its a dual channel controller.
But a quad channel kit will work, it will just be two sets of RAM per channel.
As I understand it, only some of the chips will be bga, like maybe lower power usage ones. Not the 5770k etc.Was Broadwell not supposed to be BGA only, with Skylake going back to LGA?
not 100% sure but you'll need a new mb atleast to take advantage or ddr4 and sata express

Not too sure what sata express will do for me. Need to read up on that. As for DDR4, from what I can see I don't think it will make much difference to gaming or general day to day use. Maybe for video encoding cad/cam etc, but I do not use those. Correct me if I am wrong however.
sata express means much faster speeds, you can still connect regular sata drives,i saw a socket somewhere its like two sata connectors joined together
ddr4 should improve everything imo
and I though it was bga but theres three sections and bga is for tablet and micro devices, desktops will still be lga
Thing is, isn't all ddr4 going to bring is higher mhz lower cas? Even now there is didly squat difference between 1600mhz and 2000mhz+ for gaming I last check. 1-2% maybe?
I do hope I am wrong however, I want things to improve, not like mainstream cpu's such as sandy to haswell having less than 20% difference. in performance. Will be a huge disappointment if I cant get it to 5ghz comfortable on water.

PC Pro will publish its first benchmark results at 3pm on Saturday (UK time), so check the site then to see if the new processors live up to their billing.

Will sata express be native to the broadwell chipset, or will it take a few generations for native support to appear? (e.g like it did with sata 3)
So Intel are going to release Sata Express and DDR4 in a single generation?
And here I am planning to buy a Haswell i7?
