***Official Intel Haswell Thread***

The fact that Intel OEM chips this gen actually come in a proper Intel packaging now(well in the US anyway) seems a bit suspect that mine only turned up in a small brown box

someones used it :)

note that OEM chips in past have had minor marks on top - where its believed Intel may have tested some (prob for QC ?) - BUT I've not seen any posts before of ones with thermal paste on them ?

I've noticed 2600K & 2700K have both gone up about £50 following the release of Haswell. lmao

If you can't disable that throttling mechanism then I'm not surprised, any processor that can't run Prime95 at full speed without overheating/throttling is a huge fail.

Will they send a replacement out as soon as they receive the chip back, to say im a bit ****ed off is an understatement

Cant believe they would try and pull something like this selling 2nd hand stock as new!!!....i thought OC had good customer service and rep!

Always buy retail, if they hadn't clamped it and had cleaned it properly you'd have got a **** overclocker and been non the wiser. ;)

lol - higher price as probably less stock

can't run Prime95 ? come off it - maybe not at overclocks some people may expect - but other than that a none issue

its pretty obvious if you get near to 100C the CPU will try and throttle, looks like by using the multiplier - thats not an issue

suppose oem is a good choice if you plan on delidding it,as you void any warranty

but to be sure you get a virgin chip its still worth going retail

EDIT: @ the op you have 14 days to dsr return it for whatever reason

dsr for no real reason = postage on you though ?

return it as faulty via dsr, or not as described and I don't think you have to pay return postage do you ?

Haswell will be a good upgrade for you. People expressing disappointment here are mostly talking about improvements over the last couple of i5 and i7 series CPU's.

+1

Seems like for once I actually made a good choice in life.

And that was buying the i7 2600k at launch nearly 2 1/2 years ago, managed to get a good chip to overclock as there really hasn't been much improvement since then by Intel like said with the ivy and haswell release :)

Snap, loving the 2600k!

Send it away for DNA analysis, it may have 8-packs DNA on the CPU! :p

Probably be a ****e one if he has been speed binning them and kept all the good ones for pre built systems..................;):D

Whats dsr?

OcUK - They never change :(

If you want to take a chance on a good overclocking OEM buy elsewhere.

At least they didn't take payment for it in full 6 months ago :D (or a £300 deposit)

Yeah think ill send it back for a full refund and buy else where, least other places wont sell you 2nd hand goods....and broken ones at that!!

Oh and to add insult to injury i never got the free Grid 2 game with my order!!. This is the 2nd time in 2 days this has happened now, ordered 2 7950's from them on Monday and there was no game cards in with the order either. Or though they are sending them out in the post to me.....which they should do anyway so not sure why im please about that

Funny this. I'm sure someone from ocuk posted recently and confirmed oems wouldn't be used. So much for that! Why am i not surprised.

Is this something they do often then???.

To be fair ive use OC in the past and the service has been ok, no better or worse than there closest competitor but never have i received 2nd hand goods sold as new from them, only takes one time to pee you off though doesn't it, so maybe i wont be using OC again for future purchases :(
