***Official Intel Haswell Thread***

Hi martini, sounds like you had a very similar problem as Sycho who recently purchased a haswell together with new mobo, ram and cpu cooler.

Would be nice if you can explain how your issue was fixed. It may give clues as to what is maybe wrong with his setup.

Thanks dude or anyone else who can help.

Are you referring to my RAM instability where only RAM at 1066MHZ would run stable?

I switched board and that solved the problem.

I think that is what I recall it being. Was you not able to oc also? Basically wasn't all the problems caused by mobo?

Anyone have any idea when haswell NUCs will appear and any idea of costs.
All I can find is q3, seems to be virtually no news about them. Can't even find specs.

I have just installed a 4670k and I'm using an MSI G45 Gaming board. My CPU overclocks happily to 4.6Ghz but going from 4.4 to 4.6 results in a nearly 10.c temp rise. At 4.6ghz and 1.2v my max temp under very high burn test is 81.c yet at 4.4ghz with 1.18v my temp just tips 70.c.

Could this be the thermal contact between die and heat spreader ?

Otherwise at 4.4ghz I'm more than happy with the performance.

I'd forget Intel Burn Test. Your temps will never get that high when full out normally. Play a CPU intensive game and keep an eye on the temps for something more realistic.

Ill have my haswell setup running in a few days time. (4770k and asus maximus VI formula) i wont be using ibt or aida 64 or p95 to stress it. Im coming round to 8packs method of stressing, use your system for your own tasks. Tbh, running ibt/p95 only proves your rig can run those programs. My current 3770k is ibt/p95 stable, but will throw out whea errors in games.

That's crazy!

I'm surprised myself tbh I was not expecting much from these cpu's after reading about the heat issues.

I doubt I will try for more than 4.8 as I think my cooling limits have been reached and higher would need a de lid and decent water cooling.

I will more than likely run it at 4400 for 24/7 as it runs considerably cooler and I cannot tell the difference playing games.
