***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

Well 105c is the point that the CPU will start throttling down to protect itself.

You really want to be staying well below that for everyday use.

I've been priming mine at 4.5ghz with 1.2v for a couple of hours now with max temps of 67 with none of my fans over 900rpm. That's pretty much what I wanted so I'm happy I went with IB. I was getting a little worried with all the comments about the heat and everything, but that seems perfectly fine to me for a 24/7 overclock. It will even run IBT while only hitting low 70s.

What cooler is that using? (I looked above but nothing).

I was getting a little worried I changed my order from a 2500k to the 3750k due to all the comments about heat. This makes me feel a bit better... lol

I'm using a Noctua NH-D14 with the low noise adapters on the fans. It's nice and quiet :)

Got some Low profile corsair vengeance to match the high heat sink ones I already have (hoping the high ones MAY fit under the fan... big hope)

Will do. Has taken me a few hours just to get Windows up and running and all the various drivers installed. Was a bit of a mare getting my wireless adapter installed.

An SSD does make a huge difference though.

True but I only have an IDE HDD currently and no cash for an SSD Im sacrificing speed for now I guess... going to use an external for now somehow :c

The Crucial M4 is a bargain today, only a few left.

Anyway, vcore now a sensible 1.186 on full load. I had accidentally auto-overclocked to 4.4ghz by accident before!

Still getting used to this motherboard!

Have you got any tips to overclocking with the new Asus boards? I have the Asus p8z77-v Pro and I am struggling to get my head around the best way to overclock my 3570K as when I enter into windows my multiplier flies around. I also did the auto tune thing as well.
