***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

mobo: msi z77a-g43
cpu: 3570k
cpu voltage on auto because the board has no voltage controls.
boots at 4.4ghz, up to 1.264v. didn't bother running prime since it failed 3dmark11 o.O
starts boot looping at 4.5ghz

some msi rep said an upcoming firmware might improve ocing, but msi tech support don't sound as optimistic. will have to wait and see. anyone have any tips while i wait for a new bios? all i did was increase multiplier and disable spread spectrum

Well, the G43 is essentially a "budget" board, so not sure you will get as high as the more expensive boards.

If it's struggling to get 4.4GHz, the only thing to try in my mind is up the vcore a bit.

From what I have read, the 3570K's don't seem to clock near as well as the 3770K's, so you may also just be reaching the chips limits?

On my own side, got an error after around 10 hour prime at 4.9, so even the upped voltages on what was previously stable have not helped.

Ordered Z77 Sabertooth :(

Try runing your cpu at 1.25v and llc at level 2, as 1.3v seems high for 4.4ghz.
Leave your ram on auto for now and check what its running at with cpu-z

Wont boot with less than 1.34 in the bios, temps are ok 70-80 load intel stress test, leavin ram on auto makes it run 933mhz which fails, 800 is ok though.

Really need help with this guys, system hangs after 4 mins if I have a bios setting of less than 1.31 volts, lowest volts I can get for 4.6ghz that seem ok is 1.31v in bios, cpu-z reports 1.312 to 1.32 volts when intel burn test stress testing.

Also the bios wont let me edit ram timings ?!? only the speed?

Im not able to change ram timings, only 1600mhz but 9-11-9-27

thanks. i think it is the board :p. i can't change the vcore so i'll stick with 4.2 for now

Fails prime at 4.8 and I don't feel comfortable putting up the vcore past 1.3v.

Can anyone please tell me if I can alter any settings to try to improve the overclock? I noticed that even though the vcore is set to 1.3v, the actual voltage is reported as being lower, does that mean I can increase the vcore until the actual voltage shows 1.3v and be safe?

If you set Vcore Loadline Calibration to Extreme it'll stop your Vdroop on load and I think it also stop Vdrop, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks, passes intel burn test at 4.9 now. Hope it remains stable. 5GHz is not doable, crashes on burn test even at 1.36v and temp reaches tj max. I suppose it's possible that it could be stable for everyday use, but I don't want the risk of it crashing when I'm doing something important.

In any case I'm very pleased with my purchase. :D

im debating over the 3570k or the 3770k i have an i5 2500k already but my son is having that, dont really need a 3770k but getting the 3570 over the 2500 no real difference, had my mind set on the 3770k as some say its better for overclocking but then Energize posts a nice 4.9 damn you :D great chip that

I think overall the 3770's do clock better, but yeah, Energizer seems to have a golden chip like myself :)

And to be honest, I would get the 3770 is I were you. I did the same upgrade and am quite happy. Things overall feel bit smoother with the 3770 andit honestly doesn't even feel any worse than the 3930K I had - just far less heat and power :D
