***Official Ivybridge Overclock Thread***

No problem. You might need about 1.25V~ (should be able to reach 4.5Ghz) on that and will be 100% IBT stable + Prime stable if you're lucky no WHEA errors or BSOD's. It's the voltage I use though I have my LLC set to level 1.

Its an i-7 3770k. Now that i disabled the power saving **** it did manage to load to windows. Am at 4.4 Ghz/ 1.212 v now. Gona test for stability while am studying for My Applied Mathematical Models exam on Monday :D
Thanx for the advice, i have Gskill 2400mhz memory and i ll try to overclock that as well after am done with cpu

Good to know. It will probably be a specific thing so if you find out which then you can keep all the rest.

i can't get 4.7Ghz stable in offset mode with less than +0.11v offset, totalling 1.33v under load which cuases temps of 88c. I think i may just stick with 4.7ghz fixed and switch to 4.6Ghz offset for 24/7 use.

A few changes for me - vcore up to 1.285, Antec Kuhler settings changed so it cools more lower down. Multiplier left at 46 (Multiplier and vcore are the only 2 things I have changed). 1 hr of Prime blend, max temp on any core 85c but most of the time in low 70's as CPU hits 80c, Kuhler hits 40c and starts to cool more bringing temps down to low 70's. Oddly, the kuhler fans stayed over 1000rpm even when the liquid was back under 40c but as it's still silent I'm not unhappy with that. No Prime or any other errors apart from 2 WHEA errors in the hour but as max temp across a 12hr normal day (Some work, some play) is only mid 60's I'll leave it as is for the moment.

Argh, I can't get rid of these Whea errors. They don't come up for a while then I get stuttering in a game and bang there they are. :(

Hm my PC just froze again (screen went black when I tabbed out of WoW) only had WoW + skype + MSN + a browser up.. have a feeling my graphics card is going buh bye :/

Nope, I'll give it a go and see what happens - maybe not this evening though, been working all day so it's time for some R&R :)

Good call on the R&R xD I spent from 5pm yesterday till midnight doing a uni assignment very last minute... some what got it done. Haven't slept yet been gaming to chill lol.

more volts or lower overclock I'm afraid :(

I also think that as higher temps the chips can require more volts - so you get into a cyclic problem ...

I could not get rid of them at 4.6 - even at 1.33V

at 4.5 all WHEA errors had gone at 1.28V - but was getting to 91C during encodes etc

have settled on 4.4 - with no WHEA errors at 1.225V

my 4.5Ghz @ 1.25V has no WHEA errors is prime stable + IBT stable and is yet to BSOD on me at all. Get temps just on the borders of the 90s. (damn my chip is so hot :(

^^ mines hot too I need 1.285V but get to borders of 90s during encodes :(

4.4 is low 80s which is more comfortable to me - and often more like high 70s

Mines at 4.4 with 1.224v at the moment and it seems fine for most of the time, but then games freeze up and I get the errors. Could a CPU overclock effect my Graphics card overclock because I was getting Grey Screens in Games with the CPU overclock and if I set the CPU back to stock and Leave the GPU overclocked the Grey Screens go...

yes and unstable CPU will effect GPU :(

Have you ran small FFT's? that generates a lot more heat than blend.

45 minutes of small FFT's and max temp on any 1 core is 88c. Main difference seems to be that although blend hits the same peak it drops back 10c once the Kuhler kicks in whereas small FFT's stays around the same temperature, only dropping back 2c or 3c despite the Kuhler having the same settings both times. 1 whea error in the event log although I'm not concerned as I don't have constant 100% CPU usage except when benchmarking :)

If you have one core cooler than the rest, can you increase the multiplier on it over what the other 3 are at?

in theory.... yes... but..... it might not be stable at the same volts... meaning you would have to up the voltage just to get that one core stable... resulting in temps going up all round....

at least that's my take on it :)
