Will update as people post them

The reviews don't tally very well with overclocking results. A lot of them are ES not retail units too :(

From the looks of things the Vortez review is using retail CPU's rather than engineering samples. They got both CPU's to overclock to over 4.6GHz, but heat does seem to be a problem.

Aye read a few of the reviews and overclocking seems to be a mixed bag, probably due to a mix of retail and ES units as you say. Overall I don't think OCing really matches the current SB chips though which is what we've been expecting for a while. Hopefully after a couple more BIOS updates OC results might improve a little but I don't think we'll be seeing a higher proportion of stable 5GHz chips than we had with SB. For people who will be running at stock IB should be a nice little improvement though.

From what I'm seeing, the new Intel CPUs don't offer much of an advantage over the SandBridge cpus.

The ivybridge cpus run cool HOWEVER, the moment you start increasing voltage, the heat increases repaidly (much higher than SB).

If you are running at stock then buy Ivybridge (but watch the price first).
If you want to overclock, then perhaps get a 2700k (SandyBridge).

I was in the market for Ivybridge, but after reading reviews, I think I am going to get a SB (looking for a good price).

what the heck is with the number of reviews using ES chips ? makes the reviews completely meaningless - unless they are identical to retail (which we know they are not)

also some are still touting 77W as the TDP

Seems like 4.5 is achievable without too much extra voltage...

I'm still not sure whether to choose Ivy or Sandy. Will come down to price...

4.5ghz is achievable with both CPUs.
The IPC is almost identical (Ivy is slightly better, but nothing mind-blowing).
I would definitely not pay even £5 extra for Ivy, over SB.

I'm looking for a cut-price deal on SB.

I like how they are all mostly trying to avoid temp results ;)

^^ yeah I thought that too

I thought in past you'd get a whole page of analysis of temps in a lot of reviews ...

on a lot of these a cursory - yes they get hot heres how hot - now lets move on ....

more and more and more it looks like a 2700k for me - I feel these aren't as expected
