*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Wow nice guys. I am gunna have RASPMC on a card and pimp it up and Rasp pis over house on each TV as it's cheap to do I wanna add a browser and more net stuff as atm I can stream from a server which I was gunna use XBMC on too (same image/cfg) as it hbas back+front end but get 6770hd card and add more games, wanna get a racing steat/g27/tm rt500 YAY! just cannot stop thinking of a setup with it and banging sound.

I have some more learning on XBMC. I know RASPMC AND ELECMC(the other) are RASP PI aimed ones. I hear a lot of MediaPortal and MythTV - I used Meedio along time ago and modded my little htpc back in the days heh was a sempron cpu 5200gfx or something in a SFF case but loved the menus and modding stuff.

oh that is too awesome, just have a tablet on the wall.

Ok i am going to get XBMC sorted in the week i have off between old job and new. Im really dissapointed that i cannot put my tv tuner card in my microserver. At least films can be shared if not live tv.

This is going to be a mammouth task i can see it!

Also i think for now i will just use live tv on WMC. Best way to place a short cut in XBMC to link to it somehow?

Ahh, that's not good... I'm loving having the tuner card in the server - any computer in the house now can watch TV! If there's a way to do so, I'd seriously recommend it. Not great for channel-surfing, because it does take a few seconds longer to change channel, but for just sticking something on, or recording, it's great.

Just updated from 12.0 to 12.2 and seems to have fixed my judder issues, videos would be a bit stuttery when the camera panned across scenery etc. Not sure if it was a fix in the update or whether doing so cleaned something out i'd messed up but it's all nice and smooth now.

Some initial annoyances I have found on initial install

Can you not minimize XBMC?
On the start screen can you not scroll through the horizontal titles with mouse wheel?

Doesn't seem mouse friendly. :-\

If you mean along the bar with Movies, System etc then my mouse wheel scrolls through them fine. That being said, XBMC is more designed for use with a remote control than a mouse as it's aimed at TV screen use, some skins don't even have mouse support at all.

For minimizing you can hit the backslash key \ to make it windowed then click the minimize button.

Ah I got a feeling this isn't going to be as good as WMC for my htpc

I use a freeair mouse almost exclusively, i think this may be more for those who only use their htpc for xbmc

I've pretty much given up with XBMC.
I added the extra parts to my home server to allow it to output over HDMI, and for love nor money i cant fix the audio sync issue.
I've tried the stock player, have it use MPC +ReSync, ect; it just will not work.

Im wondering if its the telly at fault tbh...

Is the telly doing both audio and video?

Some devices just don't synchronise their audio and video clocks properly.

Try the following settings:

System -> Video -> Playback
Adjust display refresh rate to match video: Always
Sync playback to display: Off

System -> System -> Video Output
Display Mode: Fullscreen
Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen: Off
Vertical blank sync: Always enabled

I have to put a 250ms audio delay on for all videos - I have HDMI direct to my TV for video, but the audio goes via optical to my AV Receiver.

To do this - start playing a video, then press the M key on the keyboard, and select Audio and Subtitle Settings - set the audio offset accordingly (mine is 250ms), and then scroll down and select "Set as default for all videos"

is there anyway to make xbmc more mouse friendly?

if not what XBMC alternatives are there?

WMC doesnt handle music well at all, MKV movies are ok and tv is very good.
