*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Just ordered this to run XBMC via OpenELEC with optical audio out and controlled by a Harmony One.

Zotac ZBOX AD04-B AMD E-450 with M1 Chipset
Corsair 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Laptop Memory Module CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V

Having a nightmare with this damn Zotac AD04.

The straw which is going to break the camels back is crackling through optical output on OpenELEC. I'm now installing Windows 7 XBMC. If that still crackles, the full lot is getting sent back to the place I bought it from.

I have a Bose 3.2.1 (yes, I know) and a Panasonic G20. I can only get 5.1 from optical. Would have tried a raspberry pi otherwise :)

I have xbmc as the only startup item, but something steals focus and minimises it every time I boot my htpc. Any ideas how I track down the offending process or force xbmc to stay active?

^^^ that is useful but what I did with my Windows 8 HTPC build is to use Windows Launcher....

....it is mightly powerful and, for me, I have it set to replace the explorer shell in Windows and to auto boot XBMC each time the HTPC is started. It also checks to maintain focus at a pre set period of time.

Replacing the shell and turning off auto updates for Windows etc seems to have stopped the odd occurrence of XBMC minimising.

I might give this a go, without windows 7 in the background my little acer revo may be that little bit nippier around the menus.

I have openelec on my revo, but I used to have windows on the hdd and xbmc on an SD card. Push the card in to boot xbmc, pull it out to boot windows.
