*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Can someone please tell me how to remove recently added items. I managed to do it with my previous install from a few days ago with the advancedsettings.xml:

This doesn't work now. Also tried deleting recentlyaddedepisodes.xml but to no avail. Any ideas? It's driving me mad.

Switch to Confluence skin, and see if the recently added episodes are hidden. Some skins hardcode the video nodes that are displayed, so it might be a skin issue.

A few screenshots of MQ 5

Looks good. My first HTPC is all together now up and running. Just waiting for my pulse-8 to get here and im done for now. When is the RC2 of MQ 5 available for us normal folk?

Depends on whether your file names are any good? If your filenames are sensible (ie the path & filename contains the artist, album, track number and track name) then you can easily convert the filename into tags.

If your filenames are as rubbish as your ID3 tags, then you're putting your entire collection at the mercy of a bit of software...

I used MusicBrainz a number of years ago, and it completely screwed up a vast majority of my music collection (stupidly, I didn't have a backup to restore from)

My advice is to spend an hour or so a day sorting it out manually - you should be able to get through quite a bit in an hour, and you'll make some good progress.

Is there any way of fixing the issues with Intel HD 4600 graphics issues with xbmc?

I was using the shipped drivers and had to ends of issues on my Haswell (HD4600) with tearing/artifacts on screen when in the xbmc gui/playing films.. At the time I upgraded to a beta driver and that fixed the issue..

Just got netflix in the last few days and it wouldnt work with the beta driver, so uploaded to the latest driver.. Happy to confirm that that also works perfectly within xbmc for me.

Thanks,
Sam

The initial setup took me a couple of hours, but since doing that, I've not had to touch it again.

I'm utilising the MySQL server I'm also using for my XBMC database, rather than using the MSSQL option (as I already had MySQL installed, I didn't see any point in adding additional overhead of another database service to the server), and am using the in-built web server.

The web interface is great, and works from PC, phone and tablet, and there's an Android app which also works really well.

Thanks, Argus is looking more appealing. I'll have a play when my tuner arrives.

Just bought a nice little gadget that might be useful to others on here. I was looking at the new NUC to replace my pulse8 box eventually (don't know why, it works great, just like new toys I guess) anyway, most these new boxes don't have optical out any more. This a problem for me as my Arcam AV280 doesn't have hdmi sound. It still performs great so it isn't going anywhere yet.

Solution.

Picked it up new for £20 off the bay, it's normally around £40. Works with xbmc including Openelec :D

I'm using Argus-TV and a Blackgold BGT-3620

Before using XBMC, I used to use Argus (when it was still called For The Record, then switched to WMC.

With XBMC, I tried switching back to Argus but had a major problem: the recording console application kept popping up on screen and was a bitch to get rid of using just the remote. So i had to uninstall it. Any idea why that might have been happening?

I've "only" got it installed on my server, not my XBMC machine(s), however, I've never once found that any Argus-TV applications were open unless I'd explicitly opened them.

Im choosing to stick with Fusion 3.0.0 as its the only release that seems to be stable for me.

However, I am also experiencing the issue when you wake from sleep, XBMC cannot find my NFS share, which a restart does cure. However it is not wife friendly.

Ive read various threads on how a script can auto restart XBMC when waking. Problem is Im a layman with SSH, which keeps being mentioned.

Would someone be kind enough to give me a step by step in layman terms on how to have XBMC restart when waking?

I got as far as installing Putty and logging in. I was rather hoping it would just be an explorer style interface but it seems its all command line driven.

This is the script I need apparently: redlegoman.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/how-to...en-it-wakes.html?m=1
